It's funny, (re)watching this franchise all in a row, there's a paradoxically soothing effect in all the convoluted death... Like, there's no cruelty in it, really. There isn't someone deciding to prey on vulnerable people, there's no stalking, no distinction, no hate. It's all just the giddy exhilaration of an inevitability set in motion. And what there is instead is a strange reassurance that we're not that crazy in our anxiety: of course the plane is going to crash! yes that toaster will electrocute you! that sign is definitely going to fall! Of course the world is so chock full of danger that it's a dang miracle any of us is still alive! See? You're not crazy, these things happen, and then everyone dies the stupidest death imaginable. Weirdly, it makes the franchise so endearing.

Can't wait for 4 and 5

This was originally the last part of a trilogy and had been in development since the release of the second movie. The movie was originally going to be called Cheating Death: Final Destination 3 or Final Destination 3-D as 3D was considered but deemed too expensive and complicated. It was however used for the fourth and fifth movie. Again, some of the deaths are foreshadowed in the opening credits: The pinball-like game shows a picture of a woman with nails in her face (Erin), twin "electric sisters" (Ashley & Ashlyn) and daggers/swords (Lewis). The Omen was the inspiration for the death omens in the photos. Tony Todd (William Bludworth) is the voice of the devil on the rollercoaster and the train conductor. Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Wendy) and Ryan Merriman (Kevin) co-starred in The Ring Two. She auditioned for the role of Kimberly in the second movie. Also, she can't drive so she had to have a stand-in for the scene where Wendy drives away from Kevin. He was a child actor known for movies like Smart House, The Luck of the Irish, The Deep End of the Ocean and Halloween: Resurrection. Zac Efron auditioned for Kevin, Vanessa Hudgens auditioned for Julie and Ashley Tisdale auditioned for Erin. In Wendy's premonition, the rollercoaster disaster appears to be the result of multiple things that happen when Ashlyn grabs the camera from Frankie and it ends on the track below. Even though Ashlyn and Frankie both leave the rollercoaster the disaster still happens. But it's a common misconception that the camera is the primary cause of the crash. The main cause is a leak in the hydraulics and a break in the track which caused the ride to fly off the tracks. It was going to crash either way, the camera only sped things up. Also, the whole point of the movies is that "Death finds a way". The people on the ride were destined to die, so they die. The tanning bed scene is based on four urban legends. One is the legend of a bride-to-be who wanted the perfect tan but ended up cooking her insides by overusing tanning beds. The second and third legends involve the Ohio Players's hit song "Love Rollercoaster" which plays during the tanning scene. One of the legends goes that the scream heard between the first and second verses of the song is that of a woman being murdered while the song was being recorded. The other goes that the scream is that of the woman who modeled for the album cover art and her flesh was torn off when the acrylic substance ladled over her naked body (to make it look like she was dripping with honey). The fourth legend is the one of the new bride playing a game of hide and seek on her wedding day and dies when the trunk she hides in locks with her inside. In some versions something falls on the trunk, preventing her from being able to open it from the inside, much like the way the shelf fell onto the tanning beds, jamming them closed. The original plan was for the movie to end after the fair but viewers at early screenings reacted negatively so it was changed (this also happened with the previous two movies). Also, an additional ending was scripted where Wendy would die on the train with Kevin and Julie, along with Kimberly and Officer Thomas Burke, the two remaining survivors from the second movie. However, as only one of the actors was available they decided to omit both characters. Special DVD editions labeled "Thrill Ride Edition" also include a special feature called "Choose Their Fate", allowing viewers to make minor alterations to the death scenes. A newspaper article seen in the feature reveals that Kimberly and Officer Thomas Burke died at the hardware store. The Corkscrew rollercoaster at Vancouver's Playland was the one used for the movie. The cast members had to ride it 26 times the same night in order to shoot the premonition scene. The actual ride is much tamer and slower compared to "Devil's Flight" and CGI was used which contained a hydraulic setup that mimic the real thing. The scenes shot in the home improvement store were mostly shot in an actual store. They were only allowed to film after the store was closed and had to leave it the exact way they found it. While different parts of the scene were being filmed other crew members were often putting objects back on the shelves. Originally, Frankie was not going to die. He would narrowly escape with only a broken neck and would then be arrested and charged for indecent exposure. 37:01 the tall guy on the left is Cory Monteith. He would later play Finn Hudson on the TV show Glee, set in a school named William McKinley High School. The 4th one if definitely the worst but I still find it entertaining so I personally wouldn't skip it.
