Wondrous item, uncommon (requires attunement)

This mask grants you the senses and tenacity of the terrible vulture, stalker of the skies. While attuned to this mask you can sense carrion and dying creatures up to 1000 feet away. You do not suffer penalties or diseases from consuming rotten or decaying flesh. This item has 3 charges and regains all charges at dusk.

Waste Not. You gain a bite attack which counts as a simple melee weapon with which you are proficient that deals 3d4 +2 piercing damage. When you damage a corpse or a creature with 0 hit points this way, you can spend a charge to devour their flesh and sustain yourself. You regain an amount of hit points equal to the amount of damage dealt. Constructs are immune to this damage.

Stalking Death. You can spend 2 charges to remind a target of its own impending mortality. A target within 60 feet of you must make a DC 15 wisdom saving throw. If the creature is below half of their total hit points they make the saving throw with disadvantage. On a failed save the creature is affected by the Fear spell as the very sight of you strikes the fear of death into their heart.

Invoking the chilling image of a desert vulture, the Carrion Eaters are the remnants of a once great kingdom now scattered as the desert sands. The nobles were hated not only for their cruelty, but for their appetite for humanoid flesh. It seems that even after their fall from grace, the tribes still partake in the unsavory act, and wearing this frightening mask helps them to consume the flesh of others. Such a sight can cause even the fiercest adversary to flee in terror, lest they meet the fate of all who incur the hunger of these stalking predators.
