Keys to victory for Lima:

  • Keep this fight standing. There is a lot of questions about the ground game of Lima but no need to test it here. Lima has a significant striking advantage. Lima has so many tools he uses on the feet and it will probably be too much for Magard to handle.
  • Drag the fight longer. Once the fight gets going Lima gets stronger. Being more settled in Lima is lasered in with his shot placement. Magard does well deep in the fight but not on the level as Lima would be.

Keys to victory for Magard:

  • Wrestle heavy. Magard has played his luck striking more his last two fights. He was fighting other grapplers then so he shouldn't play around none here. Lima had takedown defense problems in the past and it's up in the air now. Magard should really put it to the test.
  • Start fast. Magard should take right to Lima early and fast. I think it's important to not let Lima get started. His wrestling matched with constant forward pressure should play a big part in this fight

Prediction

I love this fight and I hate that one has to lose. The good thing is are still young so they will still bounce back. This is a fight we could easily see in the UFC. I'm sure Magard can get the takedown but I believe Lima is good enough to get back to his feet and hold his own. The biggest advantage between the two is the striking from Lima. Magard compared to Lima is more robotic with his striking. He only seems to have a right hand and doesn't use enough feints and combinations. Lima is a mixture of wild, unorthodox, and technical all at the same time when it comes to his striking. Lima throws a lot of high velocity such as switch kicks, capoeira kicks, and his favorite; the flying knee. The Brazilian is frequently mixing up his striking patterns. He never throws the same strike back to take. He always at least throws in two or three. I can't point out all combinations he does but I love his one-two digging to the body and then going up top. He moves a lot better than Magard and I believe he can dance around and pick at Magard. This fight could get really interesting when it hits the mat cause Magard is so dangerous attacking the neck. I think the striking, speed, and diversity of Lima win him this fight. My prediction is Lima by a late round TKO.
