Indonesian government just blocked many sites this morning. Including paypal, steam, epic, origin, and so on.

I can still access the sites using google dns on browser, but i cant use the apps at all. No access to all the games library on my PC. Im not going to use VPN because it might get me banned everywhere.

I just hope they will unblock these sites. I mean we were charged taxes when purchasing games before this. What else they would want? User data? That's against any developer's policy.

That really sucks, like why would that be happening in the first place and for what purpose.

The government demands every online services to register again under the new law or something, or else their services will be blocked in Indonesia. I heard that it includes giving user data to the government as well, to "prevent fraud" by the service, they said. This of course, violates users privacy and developers terms and service. The problem is government sites are too easy to hack (they don't bother to pay proper IT team). Even citizen data can be found being sold in online forums. The data was hacked from national healthcare system. Their solution? Block the forum sites of course! Easy peasy. If Indonesian can't access the forum, nobody will know their data is being sold. Unlike China, who manages to develop similar apps to replace international apps. Or actually have market power to demand online services to open servers in China and follow their regulations. Indonesia doesn't have any of those. I guess Paypal and Steam would rather lose Indonesian market than violating their own policy.
