The differences between 2006 and 2014 regarding Shirou´s powers are noticeable here. For example, in 06 Rin trained him for a while and helped him open his circuits before Shirou performed a projection with Archer´s advice. In the 2014 however, Rin and Archer did not help him, or gave him advice. Shirou was in a desperate situation, and just YOLOed everything. He forcefully opened his circuits which then messed up his body. Archer being more present is because of their interactions so far. In the 06 he was hurt, so he stayed out of everything for the most part, just giving Shirou advice on how to use his powers so they could have a chance to defeat Berserker in the forest.
