Regarding the Archer flashback, it was a dram Rin was having. Remember that masters can dream about their Servants memory : D You already know who Archer is, then again, is not like the anime tries to hide it since its pretty much revealed on epsiode 0 and 1 with the pendant thing, and of course, all the other hints the shows throws. His identity is not something impactful like when Saber revealed herself as King Arthur with Excalibur, but something you already should know by the time its revealed due to all the hints thrown around. Also, you should check Shirou's and Archer's eyebrows. No one else has perfect eyebrows like that. Another pretty big hint that mostly no one notices : D Regarding on why Archer appearance is different, is because of the overuse of the projection magic. Basically, most of the time the magic rebounds, hurting the body, so, extensive use of it during the course of his life, while also overexerting himself, caused his physical changes. And yeah, magic can change your appearance. Sakura is an example of it, since before going to the Matous, she had black hair and blue-greenish eyes just like Rin : D Also, careful about what Archer says or does. While he was right about CERTAIN points he was also saying ridiculous things. For example, he says they have to sacrifice people to defeat others but there is a difference between sacrificing people when you have no choice, and doing it on purpose. Thats what Shirou was mad about, and that kind of thinking is what destroyed Kiritsugu in the end. Is not like Shirou is against killing or sacrificing people, is that doing things like that on purpose, when there is actually a way to save them, infuriates him. Well, thats at least his general outlook when there is not someone in need in front of him that he would throw his life for without thinking. You know, traumas and traumas XD

Nice! That's why I initially assumed that Kariya was Archer because of the insects and his hair change. But that makes perfect sense pertaining to the overusage of magic lol.
