Jess: So this was one of the most important frames for me, and it goes back to one of the first conversations we had about Ms. Fox. The size of her eyes. They are often lidded and sultry, and I stated to Tail her level of innocence revolves around how big they get. This is clearly a fully honest and earnest moment. No mischief or naughtyness. Just care and concern. It’s a wonderful character moment.

Tail: I agree. We also see the return of the animation-rooted comic making where you get to see her looking down, then up at Hare with her ears going down. I don’t know if it plays well to others, but I am such a fan of that. Maybe it’s because I made it…. At any rate. Those are some very strong eyes. I love having such a strong, powerful character be dynamic enough to snuggle up to the chest of a much smaller character. It’s incredibly endearing… I hope it reads to the audience. But I thoroughly enjoy it.

Jess: We’ve said it before, the dynamic switching and flowing matters. Fox is a powerful, strong willed woman, but here she is just enjoying the moment… and more so she’s even concerned that she may have rushed him given he was healing from a past relationship. The picture saying a hundred words… I think we are getting that and more here.

Tail: It’s a refreshing show of the dynamic. I feel like characters in a lot of media are very one dimensional. It’s nice to see it here become much more dynamic. I love the little detail of her grip tightening ever so slightly on his chest as she shows concern for him in the second panel. I don’t know if people notice little things like that, but I think they would notice if the panels lacked those small details.

Jess: The thing about details… is when there are not enough, no one can tell they’re missing, just that the piece is flat. And when there are too many just for the sake of having them is screams clutter. But when the details are informed by the characters motives, when they are both subtle and strong, it’s like great sound design in a movie. You don’t notice because it’s seamless in it’s complimenting of the scene. If you are an artist, aspire for this kind of approach, to put something in that may never be noticed, but always felt.

Tail: I agree with that thought strongly. Even if they don’t ever notice it, they’ll feel it. The eye is tricky like that. It’s exciting to think someone may read through it more than once and see little things like that or other things that Jessica and I have already planted for later in the story and a foreshadowing/ setup for a callback. It will be exciting to see those mechanics coming to a point later on.

Jess: Easter eggs? In November? From meeeee? *fake shock and awe* well I suppose we shall see..
