Hello Patrons! ✨

Here’s the process breakdown of From Here. Since I’ve been listening to a lot of classical music, I’ve been really inspired to create princess scenes. I usually don’t work with too many purples, but I wanted to try it and combine it with warmer hues. 💜

I’ve been getting a lot of questions about how I choose colours; my process depends on the piece! Usually, I think about the scene first, whether it’s set in the daytime or nighttime! For this particular scene, I was pretty sold on setting the scene during the night to create a really nice glow that the lights will illuminate. ✨

So for night scenes, I always choose blues, cyans, purples, and even deep magentas. I try to stick to these colours since they’re all relatively close in the hue scale.

Once I’ve chosen a darker colour, I find a warm colour to create a contrast in the painting. For this scene, I wanted to use a peach, reddish colour to compliment the deep purples and pastel blues.

Painting scenes like this piece always makes me happy since I love anything to do with princesses, quiet and dreamy scenes, and castles! I didn’t realize it’s almost been a year since I painted a castle scene (Wandering Star and Winter Castle.) I’m thinking about painting more castles in the future since I love looking at them🤩

Thank you all so much for your support here! It truly means the world to me! 🥰

Love always,

Maxine
