Mermay Day 24 🧜‍♀️ / Baby Blue 💙 - Process (Patreon)

Hi Patrons! 💙

For today's Mermay, I went with Emma's suggestion of including more animals (thanks Emma!) 🥰 

For the background, I was inspired by the Hitachi Seaside Park in Japan! I was also inspired by the scene where Howl shows Sophie the magical garden from Howl's Moving Castle!  I like to think the tiger and the mermaid are friends! I might paint them again since I never realized how much I liked painting animals! 😍

When I painted this piece, duplicating the layer became my friend since I basically drew a small patch of flowers and just copied and pasted it to create a field of flowers (I recommend taking shortcuts to cut time 😅) as for the colours I knew I wanted to paint the golden tiger so complementing it with the baby blue flowers really helps to make the characters stand out.
