Hi Patrons! πŸ’™

Thank you for all your input on my last post! Your kind words and support really mean a lot to me! πŸ₯°I'm going to be doing a mixture of how I'll post here. However, since I got a head start it looks like I can post a day earlier! Hopefully, I can keep this pace but who knows a lot can happen in a month of drawing! πŸ˜…

So it's finally here!! Mermay 2021 πŸ§œβ€β™€οΈπŸ§œβ€β™€οΈ! Here's my first Mermay, "Within Reach"! ✨ I wanted to dive into the theme of dreams! This word can imply so many underlying meanings so I want to keep exploring this theme through my paintings!

The process of "Within Reach," starts with my Ipad! For this painting, I used my painterly brushes since I wanted to create a sense of movement with the strokes. The pose was incredibly difficult to do even using my own reference wasn't enough so I had to look up many google references of "person looking up" 😝

For the sea, I used the smudge tool a lot to create a sense of movement within the waves. I made the clouds as light and wispy as possible to create a strong contrast between the crashing waves and the background. I did many colour adjustments in Photoshop so the blues can appear richer and darker! Overall, I'm very happy with this mermaid! πŸ’™πŸ’™

Thanks so much for your support everyone, I hope you're all enjoying your Friday! πŸ₯°

Wonderful! I love your mermay pieces so much! By the way, I bought your brushes and joined your Patreon page. Didn't know the brushes are downloadable for all Patreons! :D Anyway, may i know what brushes you used for this piece, Maxine? :)

thanks so much for your support Jean!! I used a combination of my custom brushes in Procreate and then transferred it to Photoshop and used Lynn Chen's Photoshop brushes! I also used the smudge tool a lot to create the waves! I
