Well, probably most importantly, how are you?? How's the move been, are you getting settled fine, although you've sprinkled things like that here and there lol

Do you have any resource recommendations for an aspiring comic? I’ve always made little comics for fun but am venturing into longer-form content and have been seeking how-to books/tutorials etc. :-)

Aw how exciting that you're delving into the world of longer comics!! The biggest thing that I wished I did before starting my webcomic script was to write a detailed outline of the events and themes that will happen in my story. A really good outline is like a roadmap for your entire story -- and the artwork, dialogue, and action will come so much easier if you know exactly which direction you're going. This video (https://youtu.be/kwifLFAxtaU?si=IQ5TCJ02RTsqjB4h) really helped me get started planning my new witch graphic novel story! I believe she talks about how to write a novel, but the strategies can easily be applied to comics. Writing locations and events on sticky notes and physically rearranging/rewriting them as the story developed helped sooo much too. This article also seems super useful! https://blog.reimenayee.com/graphic-novel-outline-onion-method/ I haven't followed that author's method yet, but it seems like a good way to visualize and organize the planning for a story. I hope those links are useful to help get you started! The last thing I'd recommend is reading lots of comics and graphic novels with the same audience/theme that you're hoping to work in. With the witchy graphic novel I'm developing, part of that process was checking out lots of fantasy books and other graphic novels in the age range I want to focus on from my library. By far it was the funnest part of the process because I got an excuse to read some really good stories haha ✨ Best of luck with your project! If you would like to share it down the line, please let me know I'd love to see it!! 🀩

Aww thanks so much for asking, I appreciate it! πŸ₯ΊπŸ’— The move has been going well! I've kinda been living in both the US and Australia since 2022, but now that I'm allowed to stay here long term it's felt so nice to just exist in one location 😭😭😭 We still have some more applications to file before I'm a permanent resident -- but my partner and I met with a new migration lawyer yesterday and this half of my Visa seems much less scary than the first half! I also went to my first doctor's appointment in many years and got my first taste of universal healthcare.....it tastes so sweet I can never go back lol 😭✨ Other than that, things have finally seemed to calm down some πŸ₯° I'm still working hard each day to make deadlines for my big secret project at work, but it's finally coming together πŸ‘€βœ¨ I really can't wait to share what it is later this year ahhh!!
