This one punches big on the feels. There is always hurt and tears on the path to healing. The pinky swear is a lovely touch. I love the hint that it's occurring in the fourth to last panel. What got me was the look in Marcie's eyes on the third to last panel and the look on her face in the second to last panel. I know that face and that look. I know that mix of compassion, sorrow and desire for better things for those you love. I hope that them cleaving to one another would give Alex an indication that things will be different and better this time around, whatever the outcome, even if he feels like he doesn't deserve it. It takes getting that love that we don't feel we deserve for a while before we can learn we do deserve it. I continue to be delighted and satisfied with the path this story is taking. I don't hope for it to take any particular turns. I have just learned to trust you and your judgment over the past 2 years, and I find myself satisfied to unbelievable heights by where you steer the story 💖 (Fun fact: cleave is one of very few words in the English language that is its own homophonal, homographic antonyms; arising from 2 distinct words in Old English where both were brought into modern English with the same spelling)

Love your interpretation of Marcie's expression! All those emotions are definitely present - she's sad that her brother has to go through these struggles, but is also so relieved that he's finally ready to accept help and to try to get better. Things will certainly be different this time around, now that Alex is facing his problems with Marcie - and Jon - at his side 😭✨ Thanks so much for the kind words too! Your faith in the where the story will go is so encouraging to hear! 😭💗💗

I guess I didn't see the relief because I didn't see any indicator from Alex that he was ready to do anything different. To my eyes, Marcie was still waiting for that response.
