Japan has and continues to be one of the most important places in video games. Home to Sony, Nintendo, and numerous 2nd and 3rd-party developers/publishers, many would consider Japan the epicenter of our favorite hobby. So naturally, Japan comes up often on our shows, but being that we’re all from the United States, our perspective is limited. So I (Dustin) decided to invite Genki onto the show to talk all about the Japanese perspective on the industry. Genki has been rising in popularity on Twitter over the past few years, sharing Japanese gaming-focused news, stats, photos, and more. So join us as we discuss PlayStation's shift away from their home market, Japan’s preference for physical games, Nintendo’s dominance, and other topics surrounding where many of our favorite games originate. Please enjoy!

As a apex legends player, I'm surprised he didn't mention it. I'm sure Apex's 2nd biggest region has to be Japan. It falls into that category of color characters for sure. Like Im also sure the final fantasy crossover they did was not just for the Americas, but for Japan too!

Yeah it is basically the only game my junior high school students talk about over here. Japanese kids love their apex, am sure the adults do too

I just recently followed Genki on Twitter and didn't realize he had a YouTube channel. Will be subbing to that now. Great show.

Great episode! As a Japanese guy myself, I learned a lot of new things despite being on the other perspective myself. I hope we’ll see more of Geki in the future.

I was very late to this episode, but I just wanted to write in and say that Dustin did a great job with this discussion. Every time I was thinking of a follow up question, Dustin asked it. I know people come for Colin's interview skills, bit watch out, because Dustin is getting good too.

Fantastic episode!
