As we wade through the mundanity of the turn-of-the-year -- when very few new games come to market and we work through our respective backlogs -- hope sits on the horizon. After all, the drab is about to turn into the delightful with the release or near-release of the likes of Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, The Last of Us: Part II Remastered, Granblue Fantasy Relink, Persona 3 Remake, and Helldivers 2, among others. And as we look forward to all of that, we have news galore to cover, too. Square Enix's Splatoon-like Foamstars is coming to PlayStation+ day-and-date, but is its mild use of AI art egregious? (And what about its strange proximity to Helldivers 2?) Ubisoft+ is being reformed as a more value-rich proposition for consumers, so why did so many outlets blatantly take one of their executives out of context following a recent interview? PlayStation Productions is pursuing an Until Dawn film based on the cult-hit PS4-exclusive horror game, but are we starting to beat a dead horse? Plus: Listener inquiries! Are we getting too fast and loose with the term 'live service'? Why do some developers and publishers choose to hire diversity consultants? Should we expect an exorbitant number of Steamboat Willie games in the near-to-mid future? Will Chris continue to be bullied over his love of Julia Louis-Dreyfus?

I cannot believe WHAT THE FUCK I am hearing coming out of your three mouths in regards to Sweet Baby Inc. You are fucking FOOLS to even abide its existence; will you only own up to the flagrance of your errors when they force its compulsory use in games ala the new industry diversity requirements *to even be considered* for the Academy Awards? You have to STAMP THIS SHIT OUT before it has time to pervert the industry so clearly being steered by would be communists. All three of you royally fucked up on this. Unconscionable.

Sweet Baby Inc. is a cancer to the industry. For them to not see this is astonishing to me. I rarely write comments here at LSM and prefer to just lurk and keep my thoughts to myself, but I just felt the need to express a sliver of my thoughts. SBI and companies like them are worse for the industry than AI in my opinion because at least AI may have at least some potential benefit. If you want the gaming industry to follow in the footsteps of what Disney has done to their franchises, then go ahead and support them and what they stand for with all your might. Shame on you guys, honestly.

Regarding the trade in situation in GAME; I worked there for a number of years (2003-2006 roughly) and trade ins were THE focus. We were encouraged to always try and sell the customer a pre-owned version of a game as it would usually be £5 - £10 cheaper, and GAME would make way more money off it. For example, they may have paid £20 for a game, then sell it pre-owned for more than double that. In recent years, their (few remaining) stores have basically become wall to wall pre-owned games and tat like Funko's, toys, accessories etc, with minimal space for actual new games in comparison. So removing the pre-owned aspect is a big deal for them and, as you point out, likely signals the beginning of the end for them unless they can somehow glom onto selling more new games or digital codes.

I'm totally with you on the AI stuff for sure, but! Machines for decades have been taking over people's jobs, more efficient in every aspect. Why are we so shocked when it comes to creative processes? When a machine builds the majority of a car, with the assistance of a human it's totally fine. But when a AI generatee a image of a car with the assistance of a human then a machine builds it, all of a sudden that's a line we are outraged? Why are 'creative' people so precious and should be exempt from being targeted? Food for thought?
