What’s Going On With Blade’s Xbox Exclusivity?! | Defining Duke, Episode 154

The Dukes have gathered one final time in 2023 during the aftermath of The Game Awards. Following a successful showing by Xbox, many question marks linger around Blade. Well, we have a direct answer from Disney, and that result lies with Bethesda. So, what gives? Plus, we get into the possibility of a free Game Pass tier fueled by ads as Xbox seeks to create value even at the lowest level of entry to help expand their subscription service. Is this a wise move or something that will inevitably hurt the paying customers? Plus, massive updates on SEGA, a deep dive into Starfield’s promised updates for 2024, the insane situation surrounding The Day Before, and so much more. Let’s wrap up 2023 with a bang! So will they not cover As Dusk Falls going multi-plat?

I really don’t get everyone piling on with vitriol comments on Geoff and the game awards. I don’t know the guy honestly but he holds Q&As before events and continues to take the criticisms and tries to apply them to the next event. Yes he has a long way to go but he seems to make a discerned effort to at least try and improve. Sorry to be harsh but no one gives a damn about acceptance speeches. That’s just how it is. So when they are given limited time for their acceptance speeches, that is to make room for what people are actually watching the show for is the reveals, period. E3 killed themselves because they were greedy trying to bilk everything they could out of gamers trying to attend the show while games journalists had a big party. And if it wasn’t for Covid hastening this, they would’ve died soon, anyway. I know there were sleepless nights due to writing articles but when someone cries about E3 being gone there’s always the caveat that they won’t be able to get together and drink with their journalist friends. I also find the argument funny because this is the same argument that could be levied with games media today. Where you and your contemporaries have found success on YouTube while gaming sites have had layoffs or completely shut down. One could lobby the same argument that we have all lost something, like integrity of actual gaming news companies with vetted journalists to bring news and reviews on games instead of some bro that decided to turn a webcam one day and upload their thoughts on YouTube.
