YouTube Comment Mysteries | Sacred Symbols+, Episode 350

Let's have a little fun, shall we? I (Colin) scrolled-through the comment sections of the last few episodes of Sacred Symbols on YouTube. What was I in search of, exactly? Nothing in particular, I suppose, but I did find a few gems. Do I have a "hipster vocabulary"? Does Chris sometimes "look like he would rather be doing anything else"? Was our "discussion about heaven and the afterlife [both] incredibly ignorant and frankly offensive?" Will we ever "actually do real news"? Does Dustin "hide his power level"? When Chris blows his nose, does "it sound like a Star Wars blaster"? Well, you get the idea. Hit play and join us for some laughs, alongside just a little bit of introspection, fueled by some of our strangest YouTube comments.

Nice. This is a fun idea for an episode. Praying one of my comments did not make the cut as I dive in. Enjoy your weekend Sacred boys.

Zeke the Plumber

The old “huge penis burden,” eh Colin?

MJ SKA BOI

Oh but separately, and I apologize for leaving multiple comments, but being a Furry and being a sexual deviant aren’t the same things. Most furries aren’t doing their thing out of sexual desire. Being a furry is simply a matter of dressing up. There are of course sub-types of furries that do engage in furry-sex, but my point is that Furry =/= a sex thing.

this was like one of those sitcom retrospective episodes. fantastic, would love to see more of this or maybe a constellation topic going over that shows comments

PRETENTIEUX

1:07:00 is crazy how close that is

Ash

I commented on the community section (or whatever it's called) here recommending the Down the Rabbit Hole series to Colin a couple of weeks ago, glad Dustin brought it up here, Colin will most likely enjoy his videos

Zack Apuzzo

Hilarious. One of my fav SS+ episodes

Aric Peña (@AricJP)

You guys absolutely have to do more of these episodes. Once a quarter or something, at the very least. So good.

Superhero Jagganath

Colin has a similar facial structure to Anthony Bourdain, but that's where the similarities end. Dude's eyes, hair, chin, personality, life trajectory all look very different

Paul Andrew

This episode is one of the best. Love the varied topics

Jordan Wray

Agreed with Aric, this is a quarterly SS+ if I ever did see one.

Antonio C.

This episode was great! One of the funniest. As one of the long time supporters that never comments. I want to add my two cents. I’d love for this to become a monthly or quarterly SS+ episode.

Caleb Peacock

Been listening since beyond and my favorite hosts are Chris and clements. The Chris haters are weird as hell. Chris says he plays a game and people check his trophies immediately to see for how long he’s played it. It’s that weird parasocial obsession.

Michael

On the religion topic: I totally understand bashing ideologies, but mocking Catholicism specifically has seemed excessive recently...

Daniel Lee Tucker

thank you for the blaster edit, I appreciate it.

Trapgunner

I understand your frustration and used to take the whole making fun of furry thing personally especially since I’ve been a big fan of Colin since beyond. They know furry isn’t just about sex but that’s not funny. The sex stereotypes and making fun of it is played up on the show to entertain. The community thinks it’s funny so it’s brought up for laughs. Even if they acknowledged furry isn’t about just sex it wouldn’t cure the stereotype. Nothing is off limits to be made fun of on sacred. The hosts included.

MJ SKA BOI

Oh I’m not frustrated I was just genuinely under the impression the hosts thought it was just a horny thing so I was being a smarty pants

Michal Dudic

taking unhinged youtube comments and spinning them off into real conversations is a goated format

Douglas Morreale

I'll admit I'm one of the scumbags who skips the first hour of mandatory banter on SS. Nothing personal, I've done the same thing with other podcasts. It's a practicality thing. As a kid I watched SportsCenter to see sports highlights. Weather Channel - the weather. When it comes to video game podcasts, I want to hear the hosts talk about video games. /shrug

I just listened to this episode and wanted to comment on the Five Guys order in advance for pick up or just go there and order directly. The Five Guys by me will cook the burger in advance but not the fries if you order for pickup. They only cook them when you arrive to pick up the order. I learned this the hard way ordering online for pickup. My location is 20 minutes away and came back with a cold burger. Chris, does your Five Guys location follow this practice as well?
