Layoffs at Bungie are just the latest in a line of labor issues for PlayStation and its studios in recent months, but as usual, there's great dissonance afoot. Consider this: PS5 is selling briskly, Spider-Man 2 is a critical and commercial smash-hit, and high demand for Sony's product persists as we enter the generation's fourth year. So how can the day-to-day news be so bad when the end result is so positive? Between employee tribulation, an exiting CEO, a fired legendary producer, and more, just what's going on behind-the-scenes, anyway? Are Sony's hard-earned years of goodwill evaporating? Other news this week includes word of a fresh PlayStation 5/Modern Warfare III bundle (and peculiarity about the game's Trophies), rumors of an expansion for God of War: Ragnarok, vague updates on SEGA's mega-expensive so-called 'Super Game,' and more. Listener inquiries end our show, as always. Is 2023 an unusually good industry year specifically because of COVID delays? Would Sony ever put PlayStation Stars on PS5? What does the future hold for Capcom's behemoth Resident Evil franchise? Will Chris get a vanity license plate that reads SACRDBOY?

On the Capcom story, you covered and discussed a few months ago so wasn’t anything new. Remember thinking Dragons Dogma 2 but it was billed as unannounced. Guess it came up again in the public cycle though. Not trying to be a sick, Just bringing it up. know so many stories get covered here it’s hard to keep track of everything f.

A round of applause for Dustin for his take on Bungie's bullshit corporate pandering!! Hear, hear!! 👏👏👏

Lol Chris is such a bungie fanboy Jesus Christ. That studio from a talent perspective is very overrated. That was a bad investment by Sony in my opinion. But the reverence Chris holds them in isn’t justified imo. They’ve never made or created anything truely transformative in the space as far as I’m concerned. His blind faith and constant throating of them on a weekly basis is kinda gross to listen to…🤢🤮

Colin, for the love of Christ don’t follow a guide of any sorts for Alan Wake II. At the end of the game there is a *NO POINT OF RETURN* save point. Use the only 4 missable collectables for that moment. Otherwise, please just play the game organically. Almost All the “collectibles” can be found on your map. Godspeed brother and enjoy! ❤️

Chris’s distain for Last of Us is palpable and honestly a little annoying at this point in my opinion.

I'll say it here Congratulations 🎉 Colin on the happy wedding 💒, may your path through life bring you good tidings. Best regards from Hozi.

Basically Chris thinks if something doesn’t appeal to his taste it’s objectively bad and if it does then it’s gods gift to earth. It’s an incredibly pretentious personality trait that he has

Robocop is GOTY I don't care what anyone says.

I've said this before, it only takes someone who plays any other good mmos or mmo-lites to notice how predatory and abusive Destiny 2’s monetization is. Do we really want the guys who vault content you've paid for and paywall transmog telling any PS Studio their game isnt sticky enough? Again, Sony bought Bungie because they lost Digital Extremes to Tencent. Warframe has one of the best monetization structures in the industry, and Digital Extremes is way better than Bungie when it comes to live service games IMO.

2017 I still think was better than 2023. 2014 was a great year of gaming no matt what anyone says

Same people crying about these layoffs are the same people crying about the 70$ price point. No wonder why these people are bat shit out of their minds. You got Chris saying “oh poor consumer having to pay 10 extra bucks for the game, but they gotta keep everyone.”

Can't wait for Lockmort to grab all that hooker and Micah being a southern man audio. 🤌

2:16:51 The raid chris mentions is Deep Stone Crypt with the iconic music peice while traversing space being Deep Stone Lullaby. Along with Micheal Salvatori and at least 1 other music person, Micheal Sechrist who was the composer of that song was let go from Bungie.

Congrats Colin and Micah!
