Nice! I was hoping you'd delve into all this ridiculousness.

Dude... Audio. :(

Hey Colin. Just curious. What happened to part 2 of your video from last week? I apologize if this has been addressed.

LOL Happy holidays

Thanks for your work Colin! Any plans on exploring the upcoming French elections? Could be an interesting topic.

Misty

Technically this was a free speech rally, with a few terrible speakers. The police disarmed the free speechers before entering the park. Antifa comes just to fuck shit up. They're going to continue with their agenda if they're allowed to shut down every speaker that doesn't match their views.

LastStandMedia

Not entirely sure what happened with the audio with this video; it was recorded identically to Monday's video. I'll continue to improve!

Very good episode. I agree both sides in the Berkeley protests were bad. I think the cops didn't get involved because they didn't want to give either side the photo opportunities to claim they were being oppressed by the state who was supporting the other side.

I watch Tim Pool's stream and I found it enlightening. From the couple antifa people I have found that have been willing to talk to me, a lot of them truly believe that there is systemic racism in society and the existence of white nationals proves it. If you want an interesting read on the "punch a Nazi" argument check out this link. Both sides are under the assumption that both there radical ideas are going to be accepted by the masses. You also have media framing this events as "major" groups that are "major" threats. One of the most interesting things I have found is both side belief that is the government's right to protect in the form of legislation as opposed to having the freedom to cultivate there ideas freely. https://www.reddit.com/r/AskFeminists/comments/668u0t/is_it_ok_to_punch_a_nazi/dgh3cxt/

You have to stand up for freedom of speech regardless if you agree with it or not. Any racist in my book is a waste of life I wouldn't align myself with them but I believe in their freedom of speech. I believe in defending freedom of speech even if I disagree with it. I am not on a college campus all I see are news reports, from my understanding it's typical antifa, left leaning people become violent when a speaker they disagree with comes to campus, why? How many times should the speaker be cancelled, supports of the speaker be threatened with violence, or a full blown riot rage before someone stands up for a fundamental right in this country be honored? Do we need a date, a certain number of incidents, or a ultimatum stating the next time your group becomes violent with my group there will be retaliation? I need solutions not complaining about what happened.

I have to wonder where this far left got started? I'd like a future video discussing where the classic liberal was infiltrated by Marx/Lenin and race/class warfare. Somehow it fed on our divisions and fueled Black Panther/Brown Power movements. I have my reservations about La Raza and the overt facist flag and pronouncements of a superior race.

Was hoping for a legalization of marijuana topic on this 4/20. J/k, but not really.

"You don't fight fire with fire", I 100% agree. But how do you find this different from the "eye for eye, tooth for tooth" principle you said you strongly agree with just a fews weeks ago? mentioning the death penalty as a good example. You don't fight fire with fire just like you don't fight murder with murder. That's something I really believe in, that's why I'm bringing it up going a little off topic. The extreme sides of this "battle" prove us that change really comes from those who prove to be better than the ones they are fighting, as you too said in the video mentioning the civil right movement. Just a thought I felt like I needed to express. Good work as always!

Aaron

Thanks for calling out these violent tendencies. It's an important conversation to be having.

Anonymous

Thanks for this video Colin. I fear that some on the both "sides" have simply distilled this issue to a "me/you", "us/them" borderline sports politics, and are fighting the other side to simply win. Thanks again, your balanced view is appreciated.

Brogan Wassell

Are any of your guys comments appearing?

Ben Fuhrmann

I think you should further the distinction between these off-the-cuff videos and your scripted/rehearsed ones. I think Colin's Last Rant is appropriate, pretty funny too.

Dan Phillips

Totally agree Colin. Let's meet somewhere in the middle and get rid of the 5% from both sides. Neither is fighting a winning battle or making much sense to be honest. Another great video. Keep up the great work.

Anonymous

Hmm....This is the first video that didn't resonate with me. I didn't hesitate to leave positive comments for the previous videos, so I figure I should also respond when I'm less thrilled. Maybe I just prefer learning interesting things more than this type of analysis.

Brad Russell [Toukz]

EXCELLENT EPISODE COLIN!! Great points and perspective, love you buddy. ~Brad

Thomas Miranda

I like the combination of commentary on contemporary events and delving into more historical issues. I feel like switching it up keeps things fresh.

LastStandMedia

It's possible. I'd like to know where that directive came from, though. People were getting beat to shit. Someone could have gotten killed.

LastStandMedia

I believe in their freedom of speech, too. I used the CSA flag as the analogy to illustrate that. But we can't let them become prominent, notable parts of the movement, and we can let violence overtake the message. This shit has become about egos, I'm telling you.

LastStandMedia

Eye for an eye/tooth for a tooth is, to me, a part of the social contract, at least with the death penalty. I don't believe in vigilante justice. Gets us nowhere.

LastStandMedia

Possibly, but I like the idea that you never really know what you're gonna get when you click... =)

LastStandMedia

I promise you, it won't be the last time. I appreciate you giving it a shake, though. One in six ain't bad!

Brogan Wassell

Is there a bug or something? I just got like 6 of your comments and contextually it doesn't fit. Also I think it might be a bug because I can't see everyone else's comments.

Anonymous

The Android app was giving me issues... not allowing me to like or comment and only loading a limited number of comments... so if youre using the app, may be a bug

Phil Crone

Always enjoy the rants like these. Great episode. It's so annoying that enough people out there think these fringe 1% represent either side when they represent no one but themselves. Also yay Louisville, KY reference - it's the most wonderful time of the year here! (Yes, it's Derby Festival time - we have a two week festival for a two minute race.)

Colin, I was wondering if you had a chance to watch Tim Pool's interview on the Rubin Report? He seems to have seen things differently than your sources. He acknowledged that there was a minority of people who attended the event expecting a fight but that a surprising majority seemed to be there for the speakers and to enjoy the event. I would love to hear your thoughts on his report. As always thank you for the video! Good luck with your move! Link for the report mentioned in post: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IWiwgofHTiA **Please, let me know if linking outside sources to other content creators is considered rude here... I think it's relevant and mean no offense to Colin (hes got my support)

Additionally, how do you feel about BuzzFeed as a reliable news source? I kinda see them a the lefts equivalent to Info Wars. Sure there is probably good reporting that come out of both publications but they also seem to put agenda (or spin) above facts. I generally avoid their articles, except for the occasional laugh, but if you follow some reporters that are doing good work (like Blake Montgomery from the source) I'll give em a read. Thanks again for the thought provoking content!

The source of this issue is that people can't comprehend/don't understand how or why a person can defend a person's right to say awful things and, at the same time, not agree with what they're saying. Certain individuals literally can't comprehend that concept in their minds, and that's a problem. This guilty by association nonsense just isn't true. Free speech is fundamental, and one never knows when that could be turned around to where the evil are the majority and the right ideas need protecting from persecution by a majority. That's why it's necessary. I just don't know how to get through to the people that don't understand it. If a person could find a consistent way to teach them this concept, this problem would go away.

Chris Holtzer

You have an interesting perspective. Perhaps I am only seeing one side of this, but I am not sure I can agree with you on this one. If someone is throwing explosives into a peaceful crowd of people, don't you have at minimum the right to meet that person with violence? I'd take it one step further and say there is a moral obligation to intervene if you have the means to do so. My frustration is more with the police than anyone else, but I am not sure I can condemn the people who fought back. I agree it solves very little if anything, but there is an ethical obligation to protect those who cannot protect themselves. Both sides may have shown up looking for a fight, but neither of us know that. To claim you do is prescribing motive, which is a slippery slope. So in short, I disagree, but love the show, keep up the good work!

Jonathan Perez

I'm going to have to disagree with you on this one Colin. I've seen way to many videos of elders, women and men being cowardly attacked by the antifa movement. Remember the headlines "is it o.k. to punch a nazi"? Trump supporters are being label as literal nazis, so violence against them can be justified. Free speech supporters were just defending themselves.

Anonymous

I will say that it would be pretty hard for me to keep my fist to myself. There is no win for those who oppose antifa in this situation. I really wish I could get an understanding why the police didn't intervene.

Anonymous

I love this kind of video, Col! I think doing one of these kind of "give your opinion" videos and one educational video is the perfect mix. I also think you do best with the non-scripted video as I can really see your passion for the subject come through!

Rune Shimotsuji Storm

So true with the chess analogy. With that analogy in mind, in order to prevent this from happening in the future, I think we have to educate kids from an early age... That's usually how it goes, next generation kids are always always one step ahead of us old-farts... But its up to us to make a change now. Also wondering if you have read this article about a society with no money, no religion and no politics... You reckon this is too close to Communism or could this be the future? http://www.collective-evolution.com/2016/12/22/in-this-incredible-city-people-live-with-no-politics-no-religion-and-no-money/

Just checked out the comment section of this video on Youtube, what a cesspool of hate, really disgusting to read. Ironic that those people condemning your opinion validate the video in doing so.

Anonymous

As I understood it, the point of the assembling was to send a message to the regressive left that they weren't going to be denied the right to speak as previous things had been shut down. The Antifa group stayed on the outside of the assembly (the people on the inside were stripped of weapons) and the speakers were attacked as they left. They had foreseen this and had protection. I agree that violence is not an answer but there is a difference between going and looking for a fight and defending yourself from those attacking you. Love your ending points though.

Ryan Berry

Feedback: felt like this was preaching to the choir a bit; didn't get much out of it that I didn't already know or feel; I'd like to see some other folks on the show to get another perspective that's not in line with your own. Some of the best interviews I've heard are Colin's interviews, and it's an untapped resource for CLS vids.

Tyler

They punched a member of the neo nazi movement. They meant literal nazis, not Trump supporters (maybe indirectly).

Brilliant video Colin. The last 5 minutes of the video really struck a cord. Keep up the great and extremely important work.

Tristan

I am personally not a fan of extremes in any sense, be it politics, diet, work ethic etc... the list goes on. There seems to be a lack of empathy when it comes to extremes. A dialogue of 'I am right and you are wrong and I am going to shout it from a mountain until you believe me' seems to be a common outcome. If neither side is willing to actually listen to each other I fear there is nothing we can do. In the end I don't like seeing you too down Colin, your a good boy and every good boy deserves fruit 🍉

Colin, Your comments in this video about the approach we need to be taking as a society toward topics that divide us really is spot on. The topic hit particularly close to home for me as my wife who is a highly educated toxicologist reached out to a friend of ours on Facebook this week about a comment the friend posted. The friend had commented that they had decided to no longer vaccinate her children (one of which is immunocompromised). My wife reached out as an expert in the field of drug safety to help her find resources from studies and pier reviewed sources rather than the biased anti-vaccination propaganda video the friend referenced in her comment. Sadly, my wife has been subjected to near endless harassment from a horde of angry uninformed moms who have no interest in understanding what my wife tried to provide which was a scientific approach to how to make medical decisions based on the +\- of public and personal health versus potential risks. Understandably, people are allowed to make their own decisions for a myriad of reasons (religious, political, logical, ect...), but we should all be able to recognize why we have made our decisions so that we can digest other's opinions or facts without resorting to violence or aggression. I actually convinced my wife to check into your work and the agenda you have been pushing to "move toward the middle" for the purposes of coming together about important topics at least for the purpose of achieving real understanding and truth. I think you made a real impact on her after she got so down about how misunderstood her lended hand was and how upset she was that a friend could allow the fallout that occurred happen.

Brian Fuller

While I don't agree that there was nothing to gain by hearing an opinion you agree with (what about reinforcing your convictions?) I do agree it would be great to occasionally have an opinion that opposes or is just different to Colin's via an interview format or small panel. I think this would align to Colin's foundational point that we should be coming together as a society to discuss important topics and not isolating ourselves in echo chambers. I think the Kinda Funny team (when it also featured Colin) was a good version of this. It doesn't have to be Colin versus some extremist nut like Bill Nye tries to do, but maybe just one or a few people that don't come from Colin's same chamber. Maybe in time. He is just getting started. The last thing we should be pushing for is for Colin to stretch him self too thin early in the process and see him fail when he can focus and specialize. Hopefully, he can branch out from a solid foundation. Cheers

Andrew

Hi Colin! Quick question I know your not playing many games at the minute but what do you think of drawn to death and the freedom of them to make a game even if it offends some people (which it shouldnt) watch ign review where Brian altano gave it a 4/10 as it offend him!

Chad Lewis

oh look more good content!

"The Choice Is Not Binary" Thanks for speaking for us in the middle, Colin. Please continue to do so and please continue to call out BOTH sides. Excellent video!
