It's me, Colin! Based on the surprisingly voluminous and positive response Cog and I received after we posted Sacred+ 318 -- Health Is Wealth -- I figured I'd double-down with an 'ultimate' episode dedicated to wellness in the gaming space. Thus, I invited two people to our show that represent the yin and yang of holistic well-being: Walt Chambers and Michael Pekin. I interviewed them separately and stitched our chats together for one big punch. Walt is the founder and lead designer of an interactive RPG called Infitnite (note the spelling). Using Infitnite, 'players' can gamify their workouts, eating habits, and more in the pursuit of the singular goal of being the best version of you. That takes care of your body. For your mind, we go to Mr. Pekin, an Australian youth counselor for a non-profit down under called headspace (with a little H). By leveraging video games, Michael guides his young clientele through leaning on our hobby not as an addiction or time-suck, but as a social tool, a reward, and something that shouldn't dominate your life, but complement it.

Last October I bought a system called Tempo and they send dumbbells, a base for you cell phone that tracks your workouts and you have to download an app. It tracks weight, reps and even will alert you if you have bad form. It also has leaderboards so it’s almost like playing a game while working out. Last year I weighed 173 pounds and was super out of shape. My height is 6,1 and I weigh 205 now. I feel better then I ever have in my 37 year life. Shout out to Colin because I also no longer fit in my medium size shirts. 😭

I didn't watch the original episode with cog yet as I didn't think it really pertained to me. I run and work out 6 days a week, before after and even during gaming sessions. I always found it just made my brain and body work better... I saw significant benefits in the MOBA and RTS space... as well as twitch shooters scene. I'll have to go back and check that episode out given the good reception you've seen.

I like the idea of gamifying work outs. I have been getting back into Beat Saber for the cardio more than anything. Will have to check out the Infitnite website.
