Baldur's Gate has, well, stormed the gates of PCs around the globe and has managed to amass a staggering 800K+ concurrent players. Such a feat is difficult to accomplish, especially for a hardcore turn-based RPG despite how much many love them. To say Larian Studios deserves such attention and celebration would be an understatement. However, as an Xbox podcast, the eyes of many of our listeners and writers has shifted to Bethesda Game Studios Starfield where some may worry of history repeating itself. Ahead of Fallout 4's release, another transformative RPG released and that game was The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Much of the conversation turned into Bethesda being upstaged and there is a small yet growing fear that Bethesda may be upstaged again. Are these games truly comparable? Well, the Dukes are happy to answer that very question. Plus, we dive into more of your Starfield questions such as what Xbox needs for this game to be considered a success and how to cope with a potential failure come September 1st. We also sift through Square Enix's shift in focus, Xbox's changes to the $1 offer in Game Pass, and spread some much needed words on the Health Is Wealth movement!

Thanks for picking my question guys. I use my fitness pal, have a Samsung smart watch. Fitness pal suggest I take in 2400 cals a day, I try to get around 2200 days I don't work out, 2700 days I do. All my meat is cooked in the air fryer, oven, or stewed. Fat free milk, noka smoothie packs, tuna almost everyday. Drink about 100 Oz of water a day. 180-220 grams of protein a day. I'm gonna check out the site you suggested though Matty. My issue isn't dropping junk food, most I have already, it's trying different foods. Extremely picky eater.

Watch the tuna every day. I used to do that and got mercury poisoning. I'm better now, but the symptoms arise EVERY time I have tuna, which is now on rare occasions.

Fire thumbnail as always

On the Square front, people are miss understanding the “high end” remark, the game has a 1 in 4 attach rate on Ps5, the game will continue to sell. I’d assume the game may’ve met there mid tier expectations and perhaps not their “high end” expectations. The game needs to come to Pc as a minimum to really perforate.

Matty’s gonna have to keep an art section in the crib to showcase all of these hilarious thumbnails. Also, play Inside. It’s a classic. “No meat on the table for the beasts.” 🤣 “There goes the creamy.” Another solid ep boys. #DDBG3

Cog, glad to see you went back to Ghostwire Tokyo. You hit the nail on the head. This game has a very distinct vibe that kept me interested from beginning to end. It's not a masterpiece; it has faults for sure but the atmosphere of the game is really engaging.

Keep your head up Matty

Loved the episode. Matty, do you pay for the premium version of the myfitnesspal app?

Lol Matty took that question about being disappointed so seriously. I don’t think the person meant he would be on the risk of suicide watch lmao. Think he simply would be pissed and depressed because BGS games release so far and few between.

Love the episode, I would slightly disagree with some of the fitness information though. Calorie intake and macros (protein/carb/fat balance) VS calories burned is going to pretty much exclusively determine your weight loss/gain. The ingredients in your food may be important for other aspects of health, but for weight loss or gain specifically it’s all calories.

Come on Matty, perhaps you are just naive, but let's not pretend Sony came to Bungie to start nickel and diming players. Everyone knows they have been doing that since the game came out, started with the skins (free in Destiny 1) and has escalated since. Remember Sony said no to Naughty Dog of all people, because Bungie said no to their design model. Bungie got all these internal employees with titles like 'player investment designer' being heralded as the best in the business and Sony bought them so they can make the "right" decisions. Bungie has had no problem milking Destiny 2 buyers, particularly new players, when they worked independently of Activision, selling the game and expansions in a way that required purchasing multiple products to access the whole game, well over $70.

Jovi

There's no concrete information on what exactly Bungie's specific feedback was on the ND project

Lawson72

The game according to their experts did not have what it took to be a competent GaaS. According to Bloomberg "Bungie raised questions about the The Last of Us multiplayer project’s ability to keep players engaged for a long period of time, which led to the reassessment." Even then really is not the point, Bungie don't need Sony's input and Sony is not seeking to tell them how GaaS work, it is the other way around. It is the whole damn point of the acquisition. The idea Sony came in and told them to start milking customers is ludicrous, because reality is Bungie has been doing it for years. It is not new for them to sell overpriced cosmetics, season passes, expansions, and more.
