It's the calm before the storm as we await the court's decision on whether or not the FTC's injuction will be granted thus killing the Activision deal. With that on the horizon, we look at Gamescom where Xbox is currently not tempering expectations about their presence on the show floor. Naturally, the Dukes dive deep into the litany of titles that could appear.  Considering the show's more European centric audience, its it time for neighboring UK studios like Ninja Theory and PlayGround Games to come out of hiding once more? Is it time for Hellblade II's combat to finally be shown off? What of other dated games coming to Xbox that may crawl its way into a show of some kind? The options are plentiful and leave us with much to consider. Once again, SEGA and Xbox's relationship continues to grow thus adding more credibility to Game Pass. Football Manager, one of SEGA's most lucrative games, continues to shine in the service as the Japanese publisher had much praise for Xbox to go around. Plus, are the Dukes alongside other Xbox creators bought and paid for? Is such interaction with big executives a major contamination to the integrity of ours and other's products?

Thursday is my only in-office day for my new job as a software engineer, and Duke makes the day so much better!

Tonys_Always_Write

For Starfield I would honestl prefer a spoiler-cast 2 or months after launch.

Otacon_Ocelot

Haven't owned a Xbox since mid 360 gen. No Microsoft banner game calls me to buy a console other than Elder Scrolls. Saying that this be the first time I consume a Xbox podcast tbh. And no disrespect to you fellas in general I wanna know what you guys think is next for them. But! Anyone under LSM banner has my seal of approval that doesn't mean anything 😅

Otacon_Ocelot

I am in agreement with Colin about Starfield. It is JUST in the way of ES6 to me.

I don’t own an Xbox now (did from 2001-2014). I listen to this show as a someone who generally enjoys PS - gotta say I fucking respect you Matty. You and COG handling this with such class man. Fuck with y’all heavy and have for Matty past 10 years on YT starting with Fallout. Good stuff boys great ep.

Shadi Haddad

Matty and Cog, I like you both a lot, despite disagreeing with you about half the time on the podcast, but I think you totally misrepresented David’s take from Constellation on this episode. You (the general you) cannot be 100% unbiased and unfiltered in what you say if you are also trying to maintain a friendly relationship with higher ups that you are dependent on to make content and therefore provide for yourself. I get it. It makes total sense and I’m not blaming anyone who does that. But like David said, these people are not your friends. You can be friendly with them, but they are not interacting with you out of altruism or because they think you’re genuinely a good person. The content creators are useful to them. It benefits them, the corporations, to be cool with the content creators. To Matty’s credit though, I appreciate you saying that you’re here trying to do business and that it is transactional. Again, no blame to anyone for the path they take here, we all gotta make our money to live, but we need to be honest about it.

Phil Spencer’s remarks about TES6 being 5+ years out has me flustered. I was 22 when Skyrim released. At 34 years of age now, I’m literally going to be middle-aged by the time we get the next entry. I’m reminded of the teaser trailer for TES6 from more than 5 years ago. There was never a game being worked on. Bethesda made that lazy teaser with a pseudo-fantasy panorama of an environment and slapped the Elder Scrolls label on it in an attempt to placate the overwhelming vitriol being directed at them for the Fallout 76 debacle.

Thanks for reading my question! Much appreciated!

The Free Dinner Situation Is Getting OUT OF CONTROL…

I agree with Cog that a lot of this overreaction to "influencers" talking to executives is just a product of the drama surrounding MS-ABK/CMA/FTC. Getting mad about a youtuber taking a quick picture with a MS employee is like getting mad at a journalist for speaking privately to a politician. It's all nonsense.

Anthony Palerino

As a PC/PS5 gamer who will probably never own an Xbox again unless it’s given to me, the PS5 is the one of ugliest consoles ever.

Noah Friscopp

Also just seemed like a move to somewhat more justify having a press conference in the first place. First one, maybe first couple felt easily justified but they really struggled after that.

Ealia Staroverov

Agree with what you said and just want to add one thing. Cog's analogy about meeting an artist backstage was a bit weird. I don't think Jaffe would have commented if Cog took a picture with a Kojima or a Joseph Staten. It's the business executive that he seemed to take umbridge with. P.S. Cog, if you're reading this, you're fantastic at what you do and Jaffe said he's a big fan of yours and ILP.

Ealia Staroverov

Slight correction for the Dukes. Regarding GTA5 on Gamepass, Strauss Zelnick, and for that matter Bobby Kotick, haven't said they're against putting games on Gamepass or PS+. In fact, both have done so repeatedly. However, these were always older games and both CEOs have said it doesn't make sense to launch Day 1 on a subscription service. Much love and have a, "I live in Texas and my car AC just got fixed kinda day."

Anonymous

Yea this is really well said. I completely agree with you. I think they took the wrong approach taking this question that said I’m glad they were able to stay respectful.

The Iron Lords Podcast

Jaffe is the homie;) Respect the position....but we will just have to agree to disagree here. Bias is REAL & I think to some extent we have to be careful that it doesn't seep into our content. However...I don't live my life having an "internal list" of individuals who I can and can not talk to based on anyone's perception of me. Many people villafied my platform (ILP) for awhile for even having Colin on for a conversation. Corporate executives, content creators with opposing viewpoints, or the lowest QA tester, I talk to them ALL. Imo there is no "sole way" to do content creation. We are all different. I feel it adds value to our Platform (DD) to get information directly from the source. How you choose to interpret or act after meeting these individuals is dependant on your moral compass. Much Love back to you as well;) - Cog

OTTAPPS

Appreciate you both tackling the question. Keep up the great work both!

Joshua Brown

I’m sick of the Double Fine/Banjo Kazooie talk, would it be a fun platformer? Probably. Would it feel like Banjo Kazooie? Probably not. What people over look a lot is Banjo has a lot of dry British humour in it not far from Fable. That’s a part of its charm.

Garry

Cog I love your content and I agree that I don’t have any issues with people taking code going to previews and even taking a picture. There is one thing I don’t like is every time someone disagrees with you it’s not just fanboys the fanboys may be load but they are just a small amount of the ones who have a different opinion.

Your Boi Nicky V

Lol you guys are way too apologetic about trashing the PS5 design. It's ugly as fuck.

NeO JD

Vertically, I think it works. Big, but it stands out. Horizontally, it wasn’t even given a thought. It’s the first console where I’ve wanted a slim faster than a pro.

MERCHANT

I love the dukes and their content however out of the 3 gaming podcasts of LSM I don't think it's a coincidence that the dukes feel the most biased. I think even with all the will in the world questions will always be asked of content creators who have relationships with developers, execs etc. That said sometimes the Dukes unwavering enthusiasm can probably be misconstrued as fanboyish. I think they genuinely have an absolute love for the xbox brand. I would especially never want COG to change as he has a wonderful, infectious and kind personality.

Daddy Senpai

Colin is the Stephen A Smith of video games. He is more famous than some of the players and executives in the industry. He does not need special access. Cog and Matty are building. Access and openness to executives and developers help build the brand. Jaffe seems to like to stir the pot and get messy. It is entertaining and adds tension. Always fun to shake stuff up sometimes.

The Iron Lords Podcast

I agree with this. Not everyone who disagrees with me is a fanboy. lol. MANY disagree with my takes, and I'm always open to criticism if I see some validity. You will LOVE the latest Constellation I recorded about this subject and having a moral compass. -Cog

I understand what you guys are saying but If the $80 for a cab or paying for dinner doesn’t affect you guys that’s awesome but no matter how you think you feel psychology says otherwise. Advertisement and conditioning people is all apart of business.

Big titty drinker

I like you a lot cog and respect the hell of you. I think you are pretty reasonable and unbiased actually. But the way a lot of the top Xbox influencers like the colteastwoods for example interact with the execs is very off putting and immediately makes me question their authenticity.

Big titty drinker

Also I will say this , specifically cheering for Phil Spencer and other people NOT making games is fucking weird to me . And it’s something that Xbox fans celebrate which I will never understand

Fotis Lyto

I think both sides do it, people cheer when they see cryin Jim on the showcase or cheer him when he doesn't even know how to hold a controller.

Zachary Zelinsky

Matty, Out of the Park Baseball is the game that is similar to football manager. It’s actually been on pc game pass before. Great baseball sim
