Phobias, Comedy, Changing Ourselves, Third Party Candidacies | Constellation, Episode 19

Greetings! Welcome, once more, to Constellation, Last Stand's conversational podcast. This week, the Brothers Moriarty are joined by Sacred Symbols co-host Chris Ray Gun and Defining Duke co-host Lord Cognito. Today, Cog wants to discuss phobias, the things that truly, really, and actually frighten and disturb us to the core. Chris is curious about which comedians and comedy stylings over time have resonated with us most. Dagan wonders what about ourselves we don't like and would want to change, physically and otherwise. And finally, Colin delves into the possibility of a third party presidential candidacy in 2024, and how such a missile to the system may be the only thing that saves us.

I like turtles.

Pasqual Ribot

Skipped to the politics, mega based speech by Chris. Although very different situations, here in Spain its the same problem with parties not representing the people or fighting for real issues. Not even the new ones the formed 10 years ago and are more extreme, both left and right. We have one regional and one national election this year and I will not vote. Short of an armed uprising, which is impossible nowadays, the only action possible of change is massive uncooperation and no particiation with the system. I'll listen to the rest after this, great job as always

The other aspect of the fact that no one with the talent required goes for the presidency is that each election has proved time and time again that even if you are fit for the presidency that the establishment is just going to shaft you. Maybe if candidates like Bernie would have been allowed to fairly compete, there might be some more faith in potential candidates that they could actually win, but everyone knows that the best person for the job is not the person who wins the election, so why even try?

Chris and Cog would like the Nutty Putty cave incident.

I'm with Colin with the fear of change. He and Cog would like the NIN song Everyday is Exactly the Same.

The same shadow people who control the money also control all of these countries, the media (and by extension our screens and software), the idols, the large brands, the universities, and research and exploration, and the politicians. Anyone who is invested in politics in terms of this candidate this and that candidate that is in a state of hypnosis. The entire thing is a show and is just good enough to keep people from totally losing their shit. That hypnosis is what the matrix is talking about. "Ignorance is bliss" was a quote from a useful tool in that movie who prefered to believe everything he was supposed to and stay "plugged in" to living a digitally-perverted reality where everything was fine and we weren't totally controlled. It's great to see people realizing this now but I think it's too late.

Tyler Kaminski

I again was not into the political topic. It can be a polarizing discussion for those of us that support one of the candidates. I strongly disagreed on many points. With that said, I loved the other three topics, good work guys.

VEEP is the funniest show of all time, and I can't explain to you how thrilled I am to...a) hear you speak so fondly about it, and b) Chris, you're going to die. You learn more every rewatch, like Arrested Development.

Thanks Chris for mentioning Kung Pow, that brought out all sorts of memories from my teens that were stored away in the attic of my mind.

Chris Evans

Louis CK is the greatest standup comedian I've ever seen in my life. I was a little surprised not to hear his name. But great discussion

Arthas did nothing wrong...

Hi sacred boys.! I’d be nice if you could add timestamps to Constellation. Thanks

Fitting conversation on 3rd party choices as I had just put up my forward party bumper sticker on my car. Although I'm usually not big on campaign slogans it really hit home with me as I can't fathom anymore how in this day in age, with so many supposed checks and balances in this country, that we find ourselves gridlocked into one of two sides on the most important event that happens in our country. Not left. Not Right. Forward However that may be.
