The Heat Is On | Sacred Symbols: A PlayStation Podcast, Episode 251

As it comes to grips with the new realities of an ever-consolidating market, Sony has opted to increase its aggressiveness by purchasing Firewalk Studios. Like Haven and Nixxes before it, buying Firewalk is an unusually premature move for a company that typically likes to conduct extensive second party dances before putting a ring on it. But its arch-rival and third party publishers alike have made it clear that the old rules of buying teams no longer apply, and that courtships can no longer span the production of multiple titles. Will this increasing embrace of size benefit PlayStation or hinder it? Only time will tell, but we've obviously much to discuss. Other big news this week includes PlayStation 5's staggering sales figures, the exit of more high-level talent from Media Molecule, and much more, and we round things out -- as always -- with listener inquiries. Is enemy scaling really necessary? Could Ubisoft be readying a low-key banger with XDefiant? Do players really 'graduate' from Nintendo to PlayStation? Is Colin developing a hankering for gardening? Mgs3 is my favorite story. Peace walker is my overall favorite. It is a prequel to mgs5 in story and gameplay. I felt like peace walker did everything better though. The story, side ops, and co-op was really well done especially since it was on psp. I would highly recommend it, hopefully the servers are still up for co-op but probably not.

Noah Friscopp

Peace Walker rules. MGS3 has probably the most “basic” story in the series but it feels like you’re playing one of the best action movies ever.

NickBLeaveIt

That's CongressPEOPLE ya sexist.

Miracle Peach

I vote for SS tank tops! Would definitely buy.

Something I'm confused about. Dustin mentioned that PSVR2 isn't available in stores. In my city they're everywhere. Wal-mart, Bestbuy, and Gamestop always have them stocked in store.

Darren Clarke

Iv just turned 50 so I'm one of these old gamers and still play everyday.

57 here and been gaming since The Master System. Only a few years I got away from gaming so it’s not that I am just coming to it- always been a part of my life.

Fallout 76 was fun until the changed to scaling instead of leveled areas . Everything is a bullet sponge now!! So I moved on…

I have a group friends which hook up every Sat night to co op some game. Been doing this for over 30 years with these same guys. Gaming has giving me so much in life. I may not make money from it but it’s part of my dna.

Colin how dare you say no one cared about the PS3 Ratchet and Clanks. I loved them all. I tried to go back and play the old ones as I have playstation premium and the streaming was so laggy I couldn't take it. Tragic. Also, that Far Cry joke got me, get em Dustin

all i know about dreams, is what i've heard on this show. if someone were to explain it to me off the streets, i would have assumed, at the very least, it was sony's answer to mario maker wherein you make a game, it gives you a share code, and then anyone who has dreams can put in the share code and play your game. and also there would be a "store front" of sorts of the entire userbase's submissions, and a trending top 20 most downloaded or top 20 highest rated experiences, and everything in the storefront is free, because everyone payed the $60 for dreams as a ticket in the door. was none of this in place? if not that was a *huge* missed opportunity when all of that was in place on the wiiu. lol

Barzenak

I want to grab those FF pixel remasters to add to my collection. I wonder if they will ever come to Plus??

Barzenak

Ya, prob just grab them soon

Barzenak

Just so many games out or coming soon!!!!

Barzenak

Need to retire so I can keep up

Armored Core is definitely more accessible than the souls games. I mean they had difficulty options in them. Normal, hard and even an easy mode came about if you died too many times.
