Q (For Questionable) | Sacred Symbols: A PlayStation Podcast, Episode 249

A new Sony handheld is rumored to be in the works, but don't get all hot-and-bothered. It's not another PSP or Vita, but rather a device codenamed Q-Lite, essentially a DualSense controller with an 8-inch screen affixed to it that facilitates (presumably high quality) local remote play. But with PSVR2 seemingly floundering, is it a good idea to release another distraction from the main goal? That being the production and release of the highest-quality AAA games imaginable. We discuss Sony's presumed strategy. We also delve into awesome Final Fantasy-related news, including word that XVI has gone gold on PS5, with the Pixel Remasters right around the corner for PS4, while the Saudi Arabian government is preparing tens of billions of dollars in new gaming investments that will undoubtedly encroach into our space. Also: Listener inquiries! Will Spider-Man 2 be co-op? Why aren't Monster Hunter fans showing Wild Hearts any respect? If Sony purchased Square Enix, would it be left alone (a la Bungie)? Was Queen Elizabeth II a closet Sacred Symbols listener? One of my favorite episodes of SS, really liked the VR talk between Colin/Chris and Dustin. It wasn't a debate but I think we got some good insight because of the different opinions. I think Apple making a world class hardware definitely could be a game changer for VR/AR. Maybe VR won't be that great for gaming because it's so limiting to certain genres like FPS setting, perhaps it's mainstream usage lies somewhere else.

I died.

Thanks for putting in the video of the sweating glitch in TLOU, it was hilarious

How much do you think the Q Lite will cost? The Backbone is $100, and the Dualsense Edge is $200. With a mobile chip and a screen included, i dont think it’s farfetched to think that it may cost $300. Yikes! But hang on, if you factor in similar devices like the Logitech G Cloud and the Razer Edge, they all came out $300 too. If the Q Lite can get the same or even better specs, PLUS have dualsense haptics, i think you have a strong competitor in that market. It might look niche, but there really is a growing market for such devices. Mobile chips are pretty good these days, and many are used for emulation, or to play PC games ported to either android or linux. I’m honestly excited and I cant wait for it to be unveiled.

It just seems like a half measure, just go all out and make a portable PS4 that can also stream your PS5 games.

Illumination is destroying Disney. The last few disney animated movies flopped.

Jeremy Seal

You guys have to check out Organ Trail. It's awesome.

Niall G

That Buckingham Palace story, is 100% not ture. lol

Mario Diosdado

I use PC for multiplayer games, couldn't imagine playing anything competitive on a console. Every now and then I play an xbox game pass game and never had a problem. Maybe just the playstation ports suck?

Piston Pants

I just saw that Chris is now fighting the guy who did chocolate rain. Good luck.

I was thinking Colin might enjoy Drum Rock in VR, but seeing as he actually plays drums, I don't know whether that means he'd like it more or less 😂 I've just played the demo and it's a pretty cool rhythm game, but again it could be way different for someone who can play drums

Arthas did nothing wrong...

Just providing some feedback. The beeping sound when Colin spoiled Krauser's background was extremely loud and annoying. Take notes Dustin..!!

Pyo

Great episode, I really wonder the price of that device. Since let's say you're far away and can remote play good with it. That means the screen, controller and wifi card has to be good quality. Will sony really go under 100 usd?

superbadisfunny .

Just a suggestion about spoiler talks in these episodes. I think you should just talk about them but give a brief spoiler warning alert before hand. It cuts off what could be great additive information imo. The bleep sound is a tad much out of no where. Loved the episode as usual.

For Capcom I think that they should do RE0 then Veronica just like they did Re3 and then took time for Re4.

Nikitas Gagas

These are the ones I want the most. Also would like to know whatever the hell happened to Billy Cohen. Dude is the most underappreciated, underutilized character in the franchise and is one of the coolest.

RU46N2 (REY)

Yeah I liked the co op between characters and back then for the game cube it was so new. And a added feature for the puzzles and traverseing the game.

The Q is a confusing choice. I would like it to have the ability to stream those old games.from the extra and premium tiers of PS Plus. Possible just sign into you PSN and stream those games even without your PS5. As long as you have a internet connection. And a subscription. Probably won’t happen but would be nice.

Keith Huntington

i'm totally that guy that recommends everything. 😂😂 "dude check out this band. check out this album. check out this movie. check out this game" 😅

Michael Miller

I think we’re gonna get another RE1 remake before we get Code Veronica and I would be perfectly ok with that. Exploring the Spencer Mansion in third person is something I dream about. As for RE0 I think all they should do is somehow include the train section in RE1 remake. The train section was the only good part about RE0. The rest of the game was a mess full of plot holes and continuity errors.

Simmo

I'm going to predict that the q-lite is marketed as a controller. The dualsense View. People pay 200 bucks for a controller with some additional paddles

LastStandMedia

I would like them to go back to the start. The GameCube remake is great, but insufficient by modern standards.

I bought so many Vita games... If you add together all of the PSP, PS1, and Vita games that I have purchased to play on my vita, it comes to 388 purchased for $4400, and 131 PS+ games. I also own 5 Vita compatible systems. Of course, all of that Vita money is now being split by Steamdeck and Switch now. Hopefully that's enough to blame someone else for Ukraine. ;)
