Anime, Old Man Moments, Guilty Pleasure Movies, Home Ownership | Constellation Episode 3

This week's episode of Constellation is a doozy. Micah joins us to ask about our so-called "old man moments," and if we're evolving into our parents. Dustin waxes poetic about anime, and how it has slowly-but-surely taken over the world. Dagan wonders if he should be more curious and open to new experiences, rather than falling back on the same old guilty pleasure pieces of entertainment and fiction. And finally, Colin inquires about the trials and tribulations of home ownership, and how it's (mostly positively) shaped each of our lives. Who's the chick? She's cute! Is she available? Can you hook me up with her number, Colin??? ;-)

I appreciate Micah’s genuine love for the worst movies ever 😂

Kinda sucks hearing y'all talk about home ownership. I loved owning a home until my ex wife kicked me out during a shit show of a divorce to say the least. I emptied my retirement accounts to put the down payment down on that house a year prior... The only real consulation was that she had to cut me a check that was many times over what I had taken out of my retirement account (thanks covid inflation!) It's still a bummer to go back to renting so abruptly while also dealing with pretty insane accusations and custody battles. I still enjoyed the conversation none the less. Keep up the good work P.S. don't move to Charleston!

I’m just getting around to episode 3 today and there are definitely a few things I can relate to. Regarding guilty pleasure movies I’ve always liked The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen much more than I know I should, but I don’t care. And like Micah, I have a soft spot for the Transformers movies, most notably (inexplicably?) the 4th one, the first with Mark Wahlberg. Age of Extinction. I know it’s garbage, but I adore it for some strange reason. And Colin mentioning Legally Blonde, reminds me of a time the trailer for that movie destroyed me. I can’t remember what we ACTUALLY went to see, but there was a trailer for Legally Blonde, and one bit in the trailer has a dog jumping off a pier into the water, and my wacky brain registered it as HILARIOUS, and I laughed my way through the rest of the trailers and was still going, trying to calm down even as the movie we were there for started. Ah, memories…

Colin: "Only the best paper towels." Also Colin: "Bounty..." So completely, utterly wrong. Viva Signature Cloth. I grew up on Bounty. Viva kicks Bounty's teeth in, then cleans up the mess.

Mario Diosdado

Oh wow, I went through the exact same thing with paper towels!

I like Sword Art Online, but stopped watching during season 2, terrible direction after season 1. I take the first 14 episodes as the whole series.

Sorry I’m late but very excited that this movie showed up. I’m an old man and am always running a couple weeks behind

I feel like Dagen might enjoy getting into some of the more unknown but underrated anime because that might simulate what it was like in the past for him but he probably just doesn't know where to start if I were to recommend one I would recommend something like the Kino's Journey anime preferably the run from 2003 because that series is hard to get and was kind of cut short but I think it's on Prime video or at least it was at one point
