The Sacred League: December 2022 | Sacred Symbols+, Episode 253

It's time once more for The Sacred League, our monthly game that pits Sacred Symbols' hosts against each other in nonsensical competition. As usual, we go down both subjective and objective routes, and this month's inquiries run the gamut from unremarkably normal to profoundly strange. Will Persona 4's early 2023 PS4 release score above or below a 90.5 on Metacritic? Which game best represents how 2022 felt? What studio do you believe audiences are way too hard on? Where would Phil Spencer and Jim Ryan go to dinner if they wanted to become friends? Will Elden Ring be the industry's consensus Game of the Year? What's Santa's favorite video game? All of that -- plus scoring last month's competition -- on the other side of play.

Colin I agree that Ghostwire was dope. It's a shame we'll probably never get a sequel that improves on the combat and concept. So far Tango is the main developer that I'm jealous Microsoft will own from now on I've loved there games they are very unique

I tried so hard to like it. I dunno why I just couldn't connect with it. Put it down after a few hours.

Remember where Cryin' Jim is from, he'd want a shepherd's pie with mushy peas or a "roast-dinner"-that-is-apparently-completely-different-from-pot-roast. I was thinking The Cheesecake Factory where both execs would have to find SOMETHING on the menu they'd want (and also accurately reflect the analysis paralysis of their respective storefronts/subscriptions), but actually I think Benihana would be good, given that both are in a similar position of fighting for Japanese developers to continue supporting the platforms.

Santa's favorite video game is Abandoned. This is because, just like Santa, it doesn't exist.

Colin, I just need you to know that as an electrician, formerly a chef of 10 years with all the Serv-Safe certification and kitchen cleanliness training, I've done service work in a Chili's kitchen and it was the most horrific kitchen I've ever seen. Everything in there was a health code violation or a breach of food safety protocol. Second place is Wendys. I'm not saying all Chili's are like that, but it's for sure a roll of the dice on whether food poisoning is gonna be in your future after eating there. You'll be happy to know though that 5 Guys is consistently clean and well maintained. Stay safe at those chain restaurants, they're really the wild west of food safety

Hello gents, foremost massive thanks to the hard work and continues stream of content you guys provide even in Holiday season - impressive commitment. I don't know where exactly you guys talked about the Microsoft / Activision acquisition topic (I'm pretty sure it was here), but I think you don't realize how serious the topic is. It goes much beyond console wars. It hit me when you discussed the PS+ addition of COD, what is a classic move by Microsoft to get regulators of their back, and afterward they've already planned probably how to backstab the deal - because they have done in already in the past. To understand what Microsoft is doing here, with this acquisition, one must look into Microsoft's business in the late 80s and 90s, also the "Halloween documents" and what the FUD strategy is. For those interested, here's a good video to get started: https://youtu.be/SXGAiTjFiMA

We've talked about many of these things on the show before, and we obviously realize its seriousness. Strange comment, with respect.

Maybe it's just me then interpreting your discussion differently.
