The Exorcist (film) | KnockBack, Episode 244

There's something about the time The Exorcist came to theaters, in that it almost certainly made the experience a hell of a lot more frightening than it would be today. When this film launched in December of 1973, one can imagine going to see it, being completely horrified, and then sitting at home. No internet, no cable TV, no phone to keep you busy. Just whatever's over the air and your landline, and hopefully no intrusive thoughts. Based on a novel released a couple of years prior, The Exorcist is a world-class example of Catholic horror told through the eyes of a tortured family that seems to have it all and a troubled priest who knows more than he should. What makes it so scary is that, like so many works of religious-themed horror, it feels like it could happen, at least in some sense. And, well, our recent viewing has left us with much to say on the matter.

you need to watch Leap of Faith with William Friedkin, its a long interview with him on the exorcist and the making of. What I loved about it was how he completely shits on all the youtube analysis videos that talk of deeper meaning in every frame... "why is the clock stopped at 12:15"... its because the clock was broken, its just a movie.

This was a great episode. I really enjoyed the theological aspect that you brought to the episode Col. Like the idea that it’s a taboo subject to talk about because people are either to afraid due to it being bad juju, or they realize the belief falls apart when you poke and prod at it. Can’t wait for the day you and Dagan do midnight mass once it’s old enough.

Georgetown is pretty far from being impoverished, at least nowadays.... There are other parts of DC that is more like what you guys speak of, but certainly not Georgetown.

Fun Fact Mormons believe in god but don't believe in hell but they do believe in teirs in heaven based how good you were in life so you could end in the poor neighborhood in heaven because you were an asshole also I should mention I am not Mormon but I have family that is

Chris Evans

Would like to see you guys do The Omen too

I have nothing against Mormons in fact I have found that Mormons are pretty friendly to people with different views and opinions which is a trait people tend to lack nowadays
