CD Projekt Red has been enjoying the resurgence of their 2020 open world RPG Cyberpunk 2077 and it's in no small part thanks to the booming success of Cyberpunk Edgerunners. This 10 episode Netflix exclusive anime has landed firmly in the top 10 most viewed content for the service week after week. With enough time passed, Cog, Chris, and I (Matty) have gathered around to talk about the cohesion between the show and game, how it lifts up V's adventure in 2077, the fast paced nature of the show, and the dark nature of Night City that Studio Trigger captured well. As always, we go first in non-spoiler mode before diving head first into every major character moment and episode!

Can we expect a spoilercast for the game at some point? Having just finished it myself I’d love to hear everyone’s opinions on it, as I’m sure many others are as well.

It was my first write in, glad it got used! But yeah I checked to make sure Netflix was still working multiple times when the scene was paused lol

Matty said David got revenge for his mom but he didn't. Also, I think the main character flaw David has is he can't stop living for other people. He had no real motivation of his own. No dreams of his own. Getting Lucy to the moon and judging by his reaction to the cyberpsychosis, he never forgot his mom's words to get to the top of the tower. That scene really got to me. He regressed to being childlike talking to his mother. You could see the pain on Rebecca's face that the man she loved was past the point of no return. She stuck with him though and charged into what was certain death with him despite him not loving her liked she loved him. Her character became one of my favorites those last couple of episodes when I thought she was cliche in the beginning. Great show.

I still have to finish the show and then I will definitely check this out. I only have a couple of episodes left. I prefer David's upstart version to when he starts bulking up, took a little of the character away for me as he grew there, but that's reflective of the setting and the choices.

Just a heads up brothers but it’s already been addressed why V does not suffer from cyberpsychosis, cyberpsychos are often thought to be people who have too much chrome for their mind to process and considering that for most players every part of V is covered in Chrome would cause them to fall victim right? Well shortly after the games release the quest designer clarified that thanks to V’s mind being infected with Johnny silver hand and the melding of the two minds over time this grants V immunity to cyberpsychosis or atleast as much cyberware as you can possibly put on in the game!
