The Life and Times of Melonie Mac | Sacred Symbols+, Episode 214

Please welcome @Melonie Mac to +. Melonie is a well-known content creator in the games space, but her disposition is notably different from that of her peers. Openly Christian and politically conservative, Melonie doesn't fit the mold of most industry women. By remaining true to herself, Melonie is something different in a sea of sameness, and we get deep into the political weeds in the second half of our conversation (so you've been fairly warned not to listen if you don't like political talk). The top of our chat, however, is actually all about Tomb Raider: Melonie is a super-fan, and she has lots of thoughts about recent leaks and happenings, and opines about both the past and future of the once-great franchise that, for her, anyway, was once the ultimate power fantasy, but is no more.

Really appreciate Last Stand giving a platform to conservatives, where we are seemingly ostracized everywhere else.

Interesting conversation. I don't agree with all of her positions but glad to hear different perspectives. I found it particularly ironic to hear a Christian conservative woman complain about cancel culture and the woke movement when Christians in the United States have done nothing but try to shove their religion down people's throats and mold society in their image through political activism for generations. It is inaccurate to suggest conservatives, particularly Christian conservatives, haven't been up to the same shenanigans as the woke left. In fact, they've been more effective because they've been smarter politically and have taken over state legislatures, school boards, and co-opted almost the entire support base of the GOP. Cancel culture is a scourge that accomplishes nothing and wokeism has become a distraction for what left wing politics should actually be about, but let's not forget the tactics of Christian conservatives and other right wing activists in the United States when comparisons are made. Cheers.

Wtf is a "pick me"? Like Colin & Danny Glover, I'm getting too old for this stuff

Nemesis Enforcer

She's def Far right and anti lgbtq. But I guess it's good to hear all voices.

Enjoyed this conversation, disagreed with a lot of points but that’s fine. Only thing I think is important is that we don’t put people into “boxes” in society. Not all left leaning/trans supporting people believe kids should be taking hormones or getting damaging surgeries, and not all right leaning and religious people hate gay/trans individuals. Let’s not let the vocal, hateful extremists speak for the majority of us who are logical and loving people.

LastStandMedia

I disagree. I don't even know what "far right" means anymore, apart from trying to defame someone.

LastStandMedia

That's exactly right. It's why an obsession on categorization and subcategorization is so stupid.

Great conversation Colin. Very honest and thoughtful would be my take.

Stonehorn

Anti-lgbt? For what? Not buying the gender nonsense? Neither does my gay brother or his husband, are they anti-lgbt and far right? Im certain neither of them ever voted conservative, are they far right?

Stonehorn

This was great. I enjoyed the convo a lot. I don't watch her political content because I don't watch any youtube grifters political content, but I enjoy her gaming stuff.

Anthony Mercado

Thank you for having her on! She is a bright light to have during these crazy leftist times.

She is God’s answer to my prayers. A 35 gamer, conservative, christian, beautiful girl. I hope there are more like her, because right now, She is like a unicorn. Im in love 🤭. Great interview, she called my attention to some aspects of the Tomb Raider series and now I need to rethink about my conclusions on the series. I really liked the new Lara, made her more human, and made me care more for the character, but Melonie said some interesting things about Lara, I am kind of confused now 😅.
