The Quarry Review Discussion and Spoilercast | Sacred Symbols+ Episode 201

Hackett's Quarry isn't just an anodyne summer camp in upstate New York. It's also the setting of a deep and historic supernatural mystery. The setup is classic horror fare: Some late-teen counselors looking for one last night-of-fun get a whole lot more than they bargain for. But underneath Supermassive's newest choice-based adventure is a different sort of project from what they've delivered in the past, something more accessible and filmic, though still familiar for fans of their brand. We've gathered Sacred Symbols' core trio-plus-one to dissect our experiences across the 10 chapters of bloody, chaotic, sometimes-too-visually-dark havoc of The Quarry, and encourage you to play it for yourself before you listen. After all, there are spoilers galore in these here woods.

I don't think Justice Smith's performance is as bad a lot of people have been saying. I had a lot of friends in High school who spoke just like he did with the same kind of inflection and tone. I'm also in a major minority on this. A majority of what Ive read from others who've played the game have the same thought on his performance.

His performance felt really off to me at first, but going through the game it grew on me over time. I thought they were trying to make him feel sketchy at first; but I think that's just the character and how he doesn't make a good first impression.

I liked The Quarry overall. I played through it twice to see some of the differences and the story/ending can vary quite a bit; I think my first play through was a lot better than my second though. So depending on how your story goes, I can see your feelings on The Quarry being quite different. The AA feel of the game didn't bother me, would recommend.

I played through multiple times. There is so much everyone missed. This Flashback scene is so key. You need to get the Hierophant Tarot card to see it. https://youtu.be/4PUU6_Jcius

It’s so funny some of y’all hated Justice Smith so much cause he was my favorite character in the game. I guess cause he reminds me of me, so I understood his personality more. But hey to each their own.

I'm glad I waited on this one. I could tell it looked like a cheaper game being sold for 70$ by 2K. I'll probably try it out once it's cheaper because I always want more horror games but it having even less interaction than Until Dawn doesn't sound appealing to me

I liked this game overall but I felt like there was a ton I missed out on storywise towards the last few chapters due to my decisions. I'm gonna have to replay it to form a better understanding of everything.

I'll wait til it's on PS+.

No wonder about the stolen scoop from Colin and lack of journalism dignity by Totilo. What can you expect from someone who polished his skills...AT GAWKER MEDIA ! https://youtu.be/pO98hGUFfJ0 at 00:21:30 Oh, and remember Jason Schreier rose under Totilo and Kotaku is his legacy.

I actually really liked this game. I’m on the last legs to get the plat which really shows different scenes I would have missed. I love that. I am Team Laura and Max for sure!! I loved Laura with the eye patch!

I really really enjoyed this game. I was laughing listening to this podcast when Colin revealed he had no idea about the white wolf! Completing this game without even exploring the underlying backstory sounds a sad experience. Must've made some interesting choices.
