The studio behind Alan Wake, Remedy, has certainly come into its own in recent years, particularly on the back of its surprise-hit third-person shooter Control. Now, they've decided to go back to the near-beginning, remaking both the original Max Payne and its sequel on behalf of publisher Rockstar. Thing is, this spreads the team to at least five projects helmed by four publishers, so a big question needs to be asked: Is Remedy overextending itself, particularly on the back of its ill-received supplement to Crossfire X? We discuss. Then: A new Tomb Raider is PS5-bound, and is being built on Unreal Engine 5, Capcom raises salaries across the company by an average of 30%, SNK is officially owned by a murderer, and more. Plus: Listener inquiries galore. How are we going to take advantage of the upcoming slow release schedule? Is IGN's poor freelance pay indicative of a wider industry trend? Are fighting games perfect for the free-to-play model? Will Chris and Colin ever settle their bad blood over the quality (or lack thereof) of Home Improvement?

Yeah the Hasan interview was quite odd.

Hey, even some PS4 back-compat titles have issues on the PS5, aside from the 7 that straight up don't work - AC Syndicate has weird flickering shadows, Lumines has audio issues, and Dead Nation crashes at the end of every level, for instance. Emulating the PS3 without the og hardware onboard is going to be extremely difficult. It's more baffling to me that we can't play PS1 classics on the PS4 and PS5, since 10+ y.o. smarthpones could emulate them perfectly fine, with improved visuals and framerates. It's a bit silly that we need to use PS hardware 2 generations old, if we want to revisit the games we grew up with, especially if a lot of us has the digital versions of these classics already assigned to our accounts. If anything, Sony would probably benefit from making PS1 games playable on newer hardware, and available on the PS Store, since people would still be buying them - there'd be way more people interested in playing the original FFVII, than, say, FFXIII, and a PS1 emulator should be way easier to pull off.

I literally just learned about this yesterday but RLM had a gaming channel sorta. It was called "Previously Recorded" and was hosted by Rich Evans and Jack Packard (who works at the Escapist now). If you ever wanted to collaborate with them... that might be your in lol https://youtube.com/c/PreviouslyRecorded

Getting to this late but if you can buy PS Now subs still and you are usually subbed to PS Plus anyways there is no reason not to buy the PS Now subs contrary to what they all suggested on the pod. It doesn't matter at all what games are included it is incredibly difficult to understand the rationale from the crew for not subscribing if you keep plus anyways.

Damn, if only someone had created a change.org petition we could've stopped the prince!

Col, is there any series that you think would be better off if they switched to a free to play model?

Hi CDC Newcastle United in the English premier were taken over in October 2021 by the Saudi Arabian state run Public Investment Fund

I don't know Colin, Lara Croft in the old games was a larger than life character a woman that was cool and knew what to always do without the help of anyone and her being sexily dressed added even more to this persona she seems like the woman you can see but never be able to be with this is the reason when someone mentions her, you think of the original and not the new one. The redesign made get just a girl they brought her so much down to earth that she is forgettable if you were to put her next to the girl from Control it would take me a few minutes to say which is which. I hope in the new game she is the same exaggerated person but in this age of new wave puritanism I don't think something like that would happen.

Great pod as usual! Y’all still planning for a physical copy for Perils of Baking?

I think they should keep it a little toned-down. That said, she was always a strong female.

Great episode guys. The guy that wrote in about sexy mermaids has clearly never played DND. Everyone fucking everything.
