God of War is a big PlayStation franchise, and word is it's about to make the leap to the small screen. As in, a TV show, apparently on Amazon Prime, led by the same minds that helped The Expanse and The Wheel of Time make the leap from page to moving image. But can God of War actually work as a serial? We discuss. Plus: Gaming news galore! Returnal is getting free DLC that adds co-op and an endless mode, while Capcom unveiled a Dino Crisis-like game called Exoprimal that's... well... primed to delight. Square Enix revealed PlayStation console-exclusive action-RPG Valkyrie Elysium, as well, along with a RTS called DioField Chronicles and an unfortunate delay for Luminous' upcoming PlayStation 5 console-exclusive Forspoken. Oh, and did you know there's a TMNT 8/16-bit collection en route? There is! We end every episode of Sacred Symbols with listener inquiries, as you know, and this episode is no different. Should Sony's approach with State of Play be rethought? What in God's name was Platinum thinking with Babylon's Fall? Will PlayStation fail to survive the next decade? Why is Colin eating ramen for dessert? All of that -- and much more -- on the other side of play.

Hey Colin! During the curation discussion you mention that Game Pass doesn’t do a good job of curating games but I completely disagree. Along with Game Pass Xbox has a reward system where you gain points for completing objectives in games. Some of these are to get a certain achievement in a game(usually a very early achievement). Sometimes it’s kill a certain amount of enemies or reach a certain objective. These points can be used to get all sorts of rewards but largely I use it to get free money on the Xbox store. And they do these with all sorts of different games. As a result I have experienced more games than I normally would and some of those games I’ve really loved! This type of rewards based system is a great way to get gamers to interact with games they normally wouldn’t touch. I hope that Sony will also include a system like this for Spartacus.

They did the exact same thing with changing the butterfinger recipe for no damn reason. It’s horrible now.

The Nixxes programmer clarified that she was more talking about feeling that she works really hard on performance for pc and that it doesn’t matter as much to reviews as she would have liked. Also stated she likes Elden Ring a lot and has been playing through it and is more keen to notice all the crashes and bugs. The harassment and threats I saw her getting in comments was pretty rough compared to what she stated. I think her comment had more legs to stand on compared to the other two. PC performance is bad.

Wow, I did not know that. When did that happen? Must explain why I stopped craving butterfingers!

The same thing happened to honeycomb cereal as EL fudge. One day they completely changed the formula and it sucked hard. They did the right thing and changed it back shortly after though so hopefully you EL Fudge people will get the original back.

That idea of algorithmically editing TV shows/films for your tastes sounds incredibly disrespectful to the writers, directors, editors, etc that put these things together to achieve a certain tone and feel. You may find the violence and sex in Game of Thrones uncomfortable, but it's important to set the tone of the world. You always have the option to not watch, there's plenty of other content out there.

Hey CDC!! I think you guys should check out smash burger as well. They have the same logo as GameStop and sushi stop

In regards to the Horizon discussion about clues/puzzle solving it would be really cool if Guerilla patches in a puzzle difficulty setting similar to Shadow of the Tomb Raider. I thought that was really cool that you could make the puzzle portions more or less difficult and it was usually through Lara's verbal hints. Personally I don't feel like it is too much, I've found some of the puzzles to be pretty challenging. I think signal towers are my least favorite and I'm grateful for the verbal hints in those but getting relics has been a sweet spot of challenging but not frustrating to me

The Dino Crisis fake-out reminds me a lot of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake troll that Square pulled during 2015's Playstation Experience -- when they instead announced that the FF7 PC Port was coming to PS4. Square knew exactly what they were doing with that tease, and I think Capcom knows exactly what they're doing with that Exoprimal trailer. I think Dino Crisis fans will get what they are looking for someday soon.

Ok well I see two minor flaws with that argument... One being that Dino Crisis is by far nothing anywhere close to hype levels of FF7, it's not even in a Dead Space hype level.. And two being, well.. Square had no intentions of doing said FF7 remake at the time that was trolled. It was not even an idea.. The backlash may have pushed it into happening, but I doubt it. These decisions aren't made so recklessly. I would be very surprised if she (red hair) wasn't simply an easter egg reference to DC and that the dinos were the only reason they bothered making the reference. (keeping in mind it's not a singleplayer game)

Kevin Cooper

The FF7 troll was at Playstation Experience 2014 (sorry, I had the year wrong) and FF7 Remake was officially announced 6 months later in June 2015 -- so safe to say that Square knew the game was in development at that time. As for the hype... it's relative. If Capcom (and the DC fanbase) perceives a Dino Crisis reboot as being hype-worthy, then it is, and as a result the Exoprimal reveal would understandably feel like a troll to that fanbase. Just like if you weren't a FF7 fan then the PSX PC Port announcement wouldn't feel like a troll.

2023-01-05 02:02:46 Bringing up Adam Sandler's 50 First Dates just reminds me of work. In electronics retail putting up sale prices, sometimes they have to shorten titles or names. The 2 pack of 50 First Dates & Big Daddy got shortened on the price tag to 50 First/Big D. Gotta find humor in small things at work.

Understand that I respect your desire to say what ever the hell you want about anything, and that I am a huge supporter. That said, I wonder why you give games like GT7 and select others the benefit of the doubt when people complain about them but you have no experience with them, yet you participate in the wholesale slaughter of Battlefield 2042 based on pure hearsay. You joke as if Dice just figured out how to make a scoreboard in stead of properly debating if stopping campers and lone wolves from constantly checking their personal achievements while ignoring the clearly visible team objective right in front of them. This is many things, chief among them it’s bad journalism. Not even CNN is openly sarcastic about their tendency to quote anonymous sources without verifying anything and publish hearsay as fact. The negative press has affected the player count, without good cause in my mind. Sincerely, KillerTomato
