Childhood Vacations | KnockBack: The Retro and Nostalgia Podcast Episode 206

So many of our remembrances are centered on our 'home territory' of Long Island, and the places where we would later call home, from Boston to Philadelphia to California. But what about the times we left, specifically for vacation with our family or friends? This week's episode of KnockBack is dedicated to those leisure-filled days and weeks of yore, when we had nothing to do and no expectations, but lots of funny and ridiculous stories to tell. We hope you enjoy. A new episode of KnockBack launches each Monday morning. I had such fun listening to this. I am glad, however, that I wasn’t aware of (both of) you antics on your road trips. Thinking of cousin Anna and Gene, of the many places in New England that we were lucky enough to visit and / or live in, of Disney and roller coasters and camping. Great memories— all! I love you both so much. (And I’m praying Dana isn’t listening to the paddle boat story. Poor baby girl) ❤️😏

Having grown up in Florida most of my life, my family and friends are still there, hearing your and Dagan talking about the heat and Disney is a nostalgic trip. The heat and humidity you get used to, but what really is draining is the Sun. The sun is as intense as in San Diego where if you don’t wear sunglasses everywhere you just feel fatigued from squinting so much. As for the animals/insects, the lovebugs are the worst. Those things would swarm the front of houses

The worst sun is in the southwest desert, in my opinion. The only time I ever got sickened by the heat, physically, was in Palm Springs.

Oh…. Palm Springs’Heat is oppressive! And the gecko/little lizard story that dagan told… he was so upset when the tail Came off in his fingers… and it’s true that I had no idea how in the world he actually did that!

I can vouch for this. I install misting systems during Phoenix summers!

That's really interesting, I've been hiking in the desert before (even in summer) and greatly prefer that heat to heat with pretty much any level of humidity... I always found the air itself draining in Florida when on DisneyWorld trips when it was really hot.

It's interesting hearing you guys talk about your experience visiting Florida because I was born there and I lived there till I was 13 and all the weirdness of Florida was just normal to me but I gotta say once I went to other states and realized they didn't have half the problems I was happy to leave and it's hard to believe I dealt with that heat for so long and didn't even realize it
