It's time for us to gather 'round the digital fire and talk about what's to come. We -- the three Sacred Symbols Boys -- each selected five games, confirmed for 2022 release on PlayStation 4 and/or PlayStation 5, that we're most excited to get our hands on. We round out our choices with your own, of course, giving us more than two dozen exciting titles to opine about as we wait for them to arrive in the next calendar year. The only thing we can hope for, then, is that delays are minimal... or perhaps even non-existent! But perhaps that's wishful thinking...

Bring on God of War!

Brandon Breeland

Playing Horizon for the first time to prepare for Forbidden West, and playing it now has me more excited than ever! Super thrilled to dive into this episode to hear about it :)

Jeremy Seal

I want that Sweet Tooth game.

I feel like people are sleeping on stray as a possible big hit. My girlfriend only plays life is strange and rocket league and stray is the first game she has ever pre ordered, and she watched all the sony conferences for the possible chance of a new trailer for it. There's no doubt that the simple gameplay and a cute cat will give this game a much wider appeal. Plus it has a interesting looking world that could bring in more hardcore gamers.

Not sure if it is still live, but earlier in Dec. "Nobody Saves the World" had a free demo on Steam/Xbox. I'm with Dustin in that it is one of my more anticipated smaller-in-scope games of the year. The demo is a couple hours long, to those who may be keen on trying it out

Whats funny is, i remember really loving lego lord of the rings. Every once in a great while ill play a lego game.

Love the episode, but I've had a thought that I can't shake that might be worth asking Moore's Law is Dead about. I heard groans from Dustin during the discussion of Horizon & Ragnorok over them being Ps4 titles. I too am a bit disappointed that we are yet to see the this new hardware be exercised. I personally have a silver lining however, perhaps this 60fps revolution on ps5 & Series X/S has a great deal to attribute to cross compatible games being so prevalent. I for one will take the 60 fps even if that means the games look closer to a ps4 game's presentation.

Eh... I think the ps5 cross gen stuff is overblown. Like spider man miles morales feels just as next gen as ratchet and clank to me. Also this happens every gen. The consoles dont start getting pushed until about 3 years in

MarkGrouch

Lot of noticeable cuts and edits toward the end of this episode.

LastStandMedia

I have to get back to LEGO The Hobbit on PS3 one day, because my nephews got one Trophy on it on my account.

Big titty drinker

What in the ps4 gens 1st 2 or 3 was really anything special? Infamous second son was good but outside of that and resogun nothing there couldnt be done on ps3 imo

I wanna give a shout out to Oxenfree II. Loved the original. And thank you guys for all the work you did in 2021. Sacred Symbols was once again my favorite podcast of the year. (Sorry Dagan)

Glad to hear Suicide Squad being mentioned, it's my most anticipated title. I think that Rocksteady is one of the most talented developers out there. Everything we've seen so far points out to a well written and fun superhero game. The traversal and characters abilities seem especially cool and interesting.

Greg McDonald

Colin I believe you're forgetting that JK Rowling had the nerve to call people who menstruate "women". Patreon cancelled 😠

Yes Bussy is man pussy ie. the anus. It's probably the equivalent of the mighty 'F bomb of yonder years. It's mostly used in the same way. It's also used when describing a transgender woman's "vagina". The Bussy killer write-in is not determined clearly if their name implies they litterly want to murder Bussy because of a prejudice/phobia OR they mean they want it and will fuck it and enjoy it a great deal.

Glendelman

"What did she say? What did she SAY? And I couldn't find it, cuz it doesn't exist." Google literally took less than a second to find what she said. Top result even. It's actually extremely well documented. Weird thing to lie about, Collin. For anyone who is genuinely interested, this video does a fantastic job of breaking down what JKR said, why she might have said it, and why it's still fucked: https://youtu.be/7gDKbT_l2us?t=1m06s (Warning: long)

I believe the outrage comes from her inability to call trans women, “woman”.

Benito

I stand with transgendered people. Just want it on record.

There's nothing wrong with the statement that sex is a real thing, in a vacuum. But she didn't say that in a vacuum. She said it in defense of a woman whose contract wasn't renewed after partaking in transphobic harassment. Then there's the book she released where a man dresses as a woman so he can murder women in bathrooms. Again, fine in a vacuum but in the wider context of the argument that trans rights will increase assaults in bathrooms, it's not hard to see a pattern here. You can still think Harry Potter is cool and separate art from artist, that's fine, just don't actively defend her. As a fan of 10+ years, it would mean a lot, thank you.

LastStandMedia

I've watched this. Big fan of Contrapoints. Almost had her on Fireside Chats, before it stopped. I don't agree that she's said anything remotely worthy of the condemnation she's received.

LastStandMedia

I don't think Harry Potter is anything; that's the point. I want a way to get into it. No one owns my point-of-view but me.

Anonymous

Not the point I'm making here but I respect you'd rather not get into the weeds on this one.

Glendelman

Yeah, she's great. Ahhh, that is v e r y different than stating she didn't say anything transphobic. Sure, she doesn't deserve the harassment and threats, but IMO she 100% deserves the criticism she's getting for it. She's a billionaire with 14 million Twitter followers. She has an unfathomable amount of power and influence but chose's to use her platform to spew bigoted bullshit against an extremely marginalized group of people for no good reason. You can imagine why so many don't want to reward that monetarily, even if they know boycotts don't work.

Anonymous

The problem is you are likely hurting hundreds of other people involved with the game and not her at all by boycotting.

gnawtyFOX

I tell ya, running errands while listening to your episodes, and getting home just as it is ending - is such a comfort feeling. Quality episode guys!

Glendelman

I've held the same belief in the past but realized that boycotting doesn't hurt devs for the same reason boycotting wouldn't hurt someone like JKR; not enough people participate to make any significant impact on sales. Plus devs are salaried/contract and are going to get their money either way. MAYBE it could effect their bonuses if sales are low enough but we're not exactly obligated to buy the game just to supplement the dev's income. I think we just need to let people who like Harry Potter, but don't want to feel cognitive dissonance for supporting a bigoted transphobe, do what they think is best. Same for people like us who just want to play the game if it's good.

TROTMAC96

Hey! Fuck you guys... Twinsanity was great.

Lester Figueroa

I really enjoyed this episode! Talked about games I had little to no idea that were coming (ohh!) and made them all sound worth looking into!
