Microsoft has long enjoyed the dominance of Game Pass with no real competition standing in its way, but it appears PlayStation may have something to say about this finally. In a solo episode of Defining Duke Ultimate, Matty digs into PlayStation's potential game plan involving a large catalog of games, a library of classics across PS1, 2, 3, and PSP, as well as the future of cloud gaming. All of this arrives via a leak from Bloomberg's Jason Schreier who got his hands on documentation describing what will effectively be a PlayStation Game Pass. While the price tag eludes us, there is great potential in PlayStation to do what Nintendo didn't with their expansion pack. However, with the PlayStation classics being locked at the top of the tower in the planned service's third tier, it's at a coin toss where things will end up. Now onto the discussion.

Seriously Hope playstation game pass crashes and burns. I really dont want this subcription model to infiltrate games any further. It's going to ruin them. Will not be renewing ps plus in protest against this.

Excellent episode! What I wonder most is if these games will have online play. Specifically, if I can play Dissidia Duodecim online on my PS5, then I'm sold. Would be a childhood dream come true.

I see a lot of people calling this "playstation game pass" but wasn't Game Pass a copy of PS Now first? The only difference at launch was that one was only streaming and one was only downloading.

I deleted Twitter again so I missed the new job announcement. Fuck yeah, dude!

Great episode Matty! Always great listening to you!

Seriously, you could get games all the way back to PS1 and you don't want a model like that!

Nope didn't buy a new console to play old content. Not worth the possibility of diluting qaulity over time.
