On Episode 177 of Sacred Symbols, we promised a deep-dive into the Wall Street Journal's explosive accusations against Activision. This is that deep-dive. As usual in instances like these, I (Colin) grabbed Last Stand Media's trusted legal analyst Rick Hoeg to break everything down, piece by piece. The accusations against people like Black Ops Director Dan Bunting, long-time Sledgehammer producer Javier Panameno, and others are very serious. And the victimization of key employees, like Vicarious Visions' boss Jen Oneal, illustrate an overwhelmingly toxic culture. And of course, there's Bobby Kotick himself, the man who once saved Activision from destruction with a $500,000 buyout, only to become one of the richest C-suite executives in the entire world some three decades later. Perhaps no one's more central to this storm than he is. The House of Call of Duty is afire. Let's look into the flames.

Kotick can always fall back on his acting career after that bizarre appearance in Moneyball with Brad Pitt. Great episodes boys.

Great episode, Hoeg is the best. I hope his channel gets huge and he becomes the lawyer you call in GTA 6 to get your wanted stars down.

As much as I love getting Rick's take on things, he could stand to interrupt Colin less lol. Felt like every time Col was trying to give some setup Rick would cut him off. Still, great convo. Personally, I don't subscribe to 'listen and believe' so I'm going to need to see some hard evidence that these accusers are being truthful and not simply trying to gain advantage. I've worked in the corporate world for too long to be naive about the lengths people (yes, even women) will go to in order to grt their way. With the industry also being very left-leaning/progressive I would caution anyone to take what they hear with a grain of salt. Speaking to Kotick's antics, I can totally see him doing these things because I see my own managers do this kind of shit all the time.

Hey thanks for the critique. I definitely don't mean to cut off anyone, but I can get "on a roll". I will certainly try to do better! -Rick

I know I'm a little late on this, but Colin can I ask where you got the 25% figure for Kotick's ownership? I've Googled around and according to sources like https://www.investopedia.com/activision-blizzard-top-shareholders-5094540 it seems his personal ownership is 0.5% of outstanding shares.
