Way back when, anime made its way to western audiences primarily via three important films: Akira, Ghost in the Shell, and today's topic, Ninja Scroll. Released in Japan in the summer of 1993, Ninja Scroll quickly meandered west, where it garnered a substantial hardcore audience during the VHS era and into the DVD era. That's especially strange, since -- back in its native country -- Ninja Scroll wasn't much of a hit at all. That wasn't true outside of Japan's borders, however, where nearly 30 years later, it's still considered an all-time great and a seminal piece of Japanese culture. So let's jump into Feudal Japan and sort through a very video game-like plot about a couple of samurai slicing and dicing through eight foes with special powers.

Have you ever thought of having breakfast for dinner? I do at least ounce in a while and the wife and kids love it. Pancakes, eggs, beacon , OJ , biscuits the whole enchilada

One of the best episodes of knockback. Not even a huge anime fan either. I did however watch and enjoy the trifecta of anime that you guys discussed. Amazing job. I have ghost in the shell and Akira on blu ray and I think it’s now time to round out the collection

If you interested in the actual history of "ninja". The japanese government recently released their historical documents about the Shinobi clans. There's been controversy over the years about what they actually were, and the historical documents say they were kinda like secret service samurai clans. Pretty cool stuff

A little late. I watched this movie tonight, now looking forward to listening to your conversation tomorrow! Great movie, would love more anime (recommendation) knockbacks!
