The maligned RPG Cyberpunk 2077 has continued to try and crawl itself back to the pedestal of which it sat up for a long while. Failed patches, continued controversy, lies, and deceit have led to customers being angry with the heads of CD Projekt Red and it doesn't seem to be letting up. With patch 1.3 dropping, Matty and Cognito take a look at the state of a game that had the potential to take over and it certainly did albeit in the worst way imaginable. Can this once delisted title make a No Man's Sky level comeback? Timing is of the essence and, if we're not mistaken, Game Pass will be an integral part of their rebound plans.

CD Projekt Red self published this game, so idk why you guys keeps saying "the publisher put them in a bad spot", they are the publisher. I understand the developers in the trenches might not have been making the ultimate decisions, but acting like another entity like Activision came in and forced this on them just isn't true. They lied to everybody, including their own investors and put themselves in a bad spot. Also great show, Matty and Cog y'all have been killing it lately!!

I’m not entirely sure of what people (or you) are waiting for? I played on PS5 and finished it last year. It was brilliant. My game of the year. Of course a couple of bugs, but nothing more than Skyrim or a Fallout. I don’t get it. They’ve fixed many of the bigger bugs people had. Surely we’re now just waiting on the next gen version? I am. I’ve not gone back to it, in anticipation for the native PS5 version. What are the expectations of this game?! Some kind of miracle all-round work of art? Admittedly the story and interactions dropped off as I progressed, but the only thing I’d want is all-new storylines, sections, chapters. But that’s like me wanting them to do the game again, and I don’t *need* that. It was brilliant regardless. What do you mean repackage ‘when it’s all complete’? It is complete, as I said. Some bugs yes but it’s an RPG. Getting police to go after you isn’t part of the core game. It’s not GTA. I didn’t even notice if it was poorly crafted with police. Just my thoughts / opinion. Debating what you’re saying. Hopefully taken healthily :) P.S, No Mans Sky - a very ‘basic’ game - is crap compared to CP.

Haven't listened just yet, but I was extremely happy with the game and it was my personal game of the year. I also played on PC (a top of the pile PC), but that was my plan in the first place. I remember wondering how they were possibly going to put this game on a home console at all (before the Series X and PS5 existed, and even then...I s'pose it'd work pretty well). I was extremely happy when I saw the announcement and it was PC bound because I knew it would be a monster. Thankfully it turned out that way and I am fortunate enough to have the monster rig to run it with all the shiny stuff on. I honestly don't think it will ever reach a level of 'acceptance' on the previous generation consoles because people (not necessarily you) have a vision of their game in their heads that is the PC version of the game, and that was just never going to happen. For that part though I do think they made a mistake by not just saying it won't come to those consoles or at least saying it will be a significantly diminished version so to speak. At the same time I found it crazy that people were surprised it didn't work very well since at no point did they show a specific console version or let anyone play it on console at all. That should've been a giant red flag to anyone who planned to play on something other than a PC...but at the same time, we all think differently and have different knowledge levels of tech.

Thank you so much for shouting out Thronebreaker, remarkable game and criminally underrated. Cyberpunk was a great game, played on PC, I really hope more people get to experience the game for themselves, launch was truly tragic, thanks for the show guys!

P.S. btw Matty, “at the end of the day…” is Cog’s thing, you saying it is like Jerry doing George’s “baby”, that is all lol.

Sony has always been stingy with their refund policy, it's clear to me that CP2077 was delisted from PS store, cause CDPR started offering refunds left and right on every platform, kinda forcing their hand. Skyrim on PS3 ran worse, and was way more broken at launch, and it wasn't taken from the store, neither was Anthem, when the news came out, that it's bricking PS4s. They crossed Sony, and Sony fired back - they don't do refunds, unless they're forced to. CDPR probably didn't even run this through them first.
