Green Monster | Sacred Symbols: A PlayStation Podcast Episode 145

Sony's arch-rival Microsoft is beginning to make key moves that directly encroach on PlayStation's turf. Nailing down MLB: The Show 21 -- a game Sony itself develops -- as a day-one Game Pass offering is the ultimate insult. Worse yet, the swings are coming in hot from two directions: Their corporate enemy that wants to body you and a long-time licensing partner that appears to have zero problems throwing them to the sharks. One can't ignore PlayStation 5's strong sales... and yet... something is definitely up, and the shadows are looming larger. We've much to discuss. Also: Deathloop has been delayed, E3 is coming back, PlayStation Productions are coming to Netflix, and more. Then: What's up with Outriders? Are cross-gen games really holding us all back? Is Jim Ryan stumbling with the PlayStation brand? Is Balan Wonderland enough to give Chris nightmares? Press play! I assume you guys recorded before this happened, but an anonymous (but verified) former Sony employee gave a very interesting and revealing AMA yesterday on the Vita subreddit. You can find the thread here: https://www.reddit.com/r/vita/comments/mmrz7p/i_am_a_former_sony_employee_ama/?sort=qa Some pretty good questions and answers can be gleamed, but my favorite question is probably "why is sony like this?" EDIT: Nice, I see you guys covered it!

What an absolutely fun episode. Huge topics lately. Chris's impression of Dustin during the goodbye segment was gold. LSM is just getting better and better. Now....im off to SS +.

Hey Colin - nitpick question for you.. well two (if you will indulge me).. when you mention "corrections" on the show, are those written "here" in the comments to the corrected episode or do you pull those from the new thread for the following episode? Secondly, I am now sitting in a sultry bubble bath while enjoying ACG and Matty on their Defining Duke podcast they just released and I noticed they don't have ads. While I love hearing you tell me about some pretty cool offers, I sometimes don't want the interruptions in your video podcasts. Any reason why Defining Duke doesn't have ads on their video podcast but Sacred Symbols does? - anywho, thanks for the great content.. definitely worth the price. Take care!

I only draw inquiries (including corrections) from the weekly thread. Duke will have ads in their video shows once we start selling more ads on their show. We're still getting Duke into the market; it just sold its first ads in recent weeks.

MLB The Show is not a good developed baseball game...EA made the best when they had the license

Good show boys. The thing with Outriders' story in particular is that I kinda wish it just fully leaned into being kind of whacky and semi-serious, like Bulletstorm. The tone is so odd and weird stuff keeps happening, with characters having very nonchalant reactions. I just wish it was just silly, it would almost make it better.
