E3 was one of the victims of the pandemic, but with a new digital strategy in place, it will be making a return in June of 2021. Xbox will be attending and Bethesda will follow them up leaving a lot of opportunities available to make a major impact. Will Xbox ditch their CGI trailer ways of the last year and give us strong looks at the likes of Fable, Avowed, Starfield, and Forza? Is Bethesda Game Studios going to fully dedicate Starfield to next-gen hardware? After analyzing some Todd Howard comments, the timing of the acquisition, and xCloud's surge, it's possible, but the boys discuss. In this same massive week, Xbox nabbed one of the former  PlayStation exclusive titles as a Game Pass Day One addition. Where does this service start and end? How far will Xbox continue to go? That alongside more of YOUR questions round out a strong week for the industry.

Note: Video will be coming later today.

Full disclosure: I’m a PS guy through and through since 96 but I love video games and the culture so I listen to show and enjoy it. But I feel like Xbox has nothing to talk about other than Bethesda. I know it was the largest acquisition in the medium’s history and it it’s going to get talked about but it just goes to show how barren the Xbox has been in terms of exclusivity. Carry on.

I wouldn’t worry about Reddit, most Reddit commenters are awful and the leadership ain’t better. Been broken for years now.

Can't help but Eye roll at this PS Plus talk. I really don't think you're accurately representing it. If you don't remember, it was launched during PS3 era as just a premium service with an instant game collection, in many ways it was like gamepass. You paid a yearly $50 fee and got a ton of games plus discounts on sales. When PS4 launched, they started rolling out monthly titles for three platforms. I have literally hundreds of games from PS Plus over the years. As of right now, early PS5 is miles ahead of the early PS4 offering. It started off as mainly triple A content, slowly started to lose some value when PS3 and Vita were still hanging on, but once we started getting those first few Triple A PS4 games later into that consoles life, it's been a great value. Hell, Rocket League and Fall Guys owe alot of their success to PS Plus. Not to mention the few times NBA 2k, MLB the Show, and other huge titles have been given away. Also, Maneater is fuckin awesome. Karak has dumb takes sometimes not gonna lie. Two weeks in a row on this same topic.

Matty does look like Chad Kroeger haha. Never realized it until he mentioned it.

yep ps plus games are great and worth the price alone. I remember in the golden days in 2014/15 when you'd get a vita, ps3 and ps4 games.

I mean they snapped up mlb and outriders day one this month alone and I feel like there's been less talk about bethesda in general for now.

I was a bit distracted when you guys were talking about Rock Band and Guitar Hero so maybe you mentioned this, but Karak stated the guitars not having strings bugging him and it reminded me that one of the only reasons I kept my Xbox 360 was that Rock Band 3 had a real guitar with midi output that could go through an adapter and you could play the actual songs on a real guitar.

I definitely learn more with each write in, thanks guys 👍. I definitely should have rephrased data as sales or financial data. I imagined Sony wouldn't have access to that info on a competitor's platform unless they had directly sold a game on , with the Show being the first. The Digital Veil has obfuscated much of the business and I think more of games media should be looking into more of it.

Matty should definitely start making his YouTube thumbnails as if hes Chad Kroeger holding a picture of whatever hes talking about for that episode lol

It’s literally the title of the episode, the first item on the news and the majority of the episode.

I have dozens and dozens of vita games because of ps plus. My 64gb memory is full because of them. So good.

Gears 5 act 3 made me wanna blow my brains out. The pacing is so bad

Guys, I can't see the link to the video. Is it just me or the video version is delayed?

Allan Galeano

I also can't find the video :( did I miss something?

It’s definitely not a gamepass competitor, but for 30 bucks (can buy codes off cd keys) a year the amount of (quality) games I get per year, as well as the extra discounts on the store make ps+ a great value. People shouldn’t pit them against each other. If you compare ps+ to Xbox live gold, gold gets shit on.

Love the content. I do think the perspective on Gamepass is a little naive at this point though. The more successful it gets, the harder it becomes to gain and retain licenses for anything not owned by Microsoft. I think Microsoft's acquisitions are them forecasting this. I'm sure they want to get to the point where they are supplying their own games to Gamepass and making profit. The problem with this is they'll find themselves in the same position Netflix is in. Netflix is producing some high quality content and a whole lot of really generic shit in order to pad the number of content they have. This has cheapened the quality of their service and they are raising prices/struggling to maintain growth.
