It's been a while, friends, since I (Colin!) have gotten a chance to talk to you one-on-one. So, today's episode of + is dedicated to just that. Let's catch up via 29 questions from the audience all about PlayStation, PlayStation games, and more. Let's talk about the first party studios, second party output, PS5, and on and on. I won't even spoil the topics! But if you're a PlayStation nerd (and I know you are!), then this episode is most certainly for you. Hit play...

I've never hit play faster. Thank you, sir.

Colin did you record this in your underwear?

Max Stahl

Far out, brah.

I gotta say I’ve had my ps5 for a month now and after the first two weeks I’ve had zero issues navigating the ps5 UI and I actually like it better and haven’t had any issues. The only real issue is like Colin said.. the trophies. They make it so hard to see them in general and even when you do get to the screen it’s really unorganized and hard to follow in the new format, and if you want the old format you have to go to your profile through all these other pages. It’s not good. The rest I’m fine with so hopefully they can fix the trophies and I’ll be content.

Colin, as a massive PlayStation dweeb myself, I have played all PlayStation first party games to their completion. However, one game I just couldn't get behind was Days Gone. I tried playing it soon after Ghost of Tsushima and just couldn't get down with it. I don't like the characters, and the gameplay felt sluggish on my old ps4. However, now with a 60 FPS boost on PS5, I'm happy to tell you I took your suggestion a couple of episodes ago and gave this game another shot. I have to say, I dig it. I still think the story is generic and I can't bring myself to care about any of the characters, ESPECIALLY Deacon's wife. Since I don't care about her, it makes it hard to sympathize with Deacon, an already unlikeable and generic character in my opinion. However, the gameplay loop is a lot of fun. I'm having a good time escaping after a long day of work and just running around the beautiful landscape SonyBend created, shooting down zombies (freakers...stupid). I've heard you say that this game got a lot of undeserved shit, and I agree for the most part, now. However, what are you thoughts on the writing? Does SonyBend need to focus on that for the sequel since the gameplay is already so sharp? Speaking of gameplay, what could they do to advance the gameplay? Seems like they played all of their cards in the first go. Although I'm enjoying the game, I'm not sure they should make a sequel. What say you?

Love the show, Colin. Keep it up!

Hey guy, If you’re looking for people to disagree with you to have as guests on the podcast, I’ll gladly put on my best dress-shirt (no pants), and take you to task over your opinions of Square’s PS2-era masterpiece: Final Fantasy X, which I’ve repeatedly heard you denigrate and disparage, much to my consternation. I recently acquired FFX’s platinum trophy and after 200+ hours in the game; dodging lightning bolts, grinding the Monster Arena, playing Blitzball and racing Chocobos; it has only more firmly established itself as my favourite game of all-time. Colin, Since you failed miserably last year to complete one JRPG a month, please show at least the tiniest amount of fortitude and give the last great game of the golden-age of JRPGs another try. It’s only 50 hours to complete and it’s not like you’re busy hanging up pictures or assembling furniture or anything. Don’t be a coward, Peace & Love, Madshibs

Addendum to my question: secured a PS5 today!!!!

Chris also hates Deacon's wife, so you're in good company. I personally liked the writing and plot quite a bit. I'd say that if you feel inclined, you should listen to our spoilercast when you're done, because I think that's where I go into the little things they could have done to make the game even cooler, in my opinion. <3

Hi Colin, the 1-on-1 episodes are great as always! About you reaching out for interviews for SS+, can I suggest MysticRyan? He runs a great PS centric YouTube channel; it would be great to hear your two's thoughts on PS. Thanks!

Hi Colin! Wanted to throw a guest suggestion out there. I think Jirard the Completionist would make an interesting guest. He 100% completes games for a living and I think you guys could have a solid discussion about trophies and such. Not sure if he'd want to come on, but worth a try I think.

Just a small correction here. Colin said that Dark Souls 3 had a different director but it was actually Dark Souls 2. Miyazaki was working on Bloodborne while Tanimura helmed DS2. Thanks for a good episode as always, Colin!

Guys, guys, guys! Just wanted to let you all know that listening to this episode (just started) on 1/2 speed is great. Love (added question... why don’t we have an emoji of two hands making a heart yet?)

NickBLeaveIt

If, after Cyberpunk, people need ANY excuse for a delay, COVID or otherwise, then they don't deserve videogames at all.

Asique Alam

Love solo colin 🙂

Kenneth Oms

Great episode. I think it would be cool for you and Erik Kain to have an episode together if possible. To talk about games media and even maybe look back on Mass Effect 3 ahead of the remastered version

Kaleb

Hey Colin just wanna say that the Yuffie DLC takes places during chapter 8 when they get separated from Cloud so i dont think it relates to acquiring her for your party. To avoid the cast meeting her early they even go out of their way to disguise her when she's around them. Considering there's no sign of her in the main game I doubt whatever she does is of any real consequence to the story going forward.

Stefan Catinella

Colin, Thanks for making me realize why I put down Persona 4 Golden. As the game I bought with my Vita I really wanted to love it, but the clock kept frustrating me.

Can we get a "Why Nintendo?" podcast? 30+ year gaming legacy rant themed

Sumojoe118

If you could make your future trophy lists more difficult that would be great! I honestly found Habroxia 2 way too easy to platinum.

Luke Bernhard

Got a correction here - DS2 is the black sheep, not 3. 3 had Miyazaki back at the helm. But as a huge fan, I would say most people just want more of the genre. I’d be fine with someone else pumping out more content on a DS or BB front, because it’s not like we are getting any otherwise.

Zack Fair

There's a company called Currys in the UK where I am thats trying to stop scalpers that is doing a lottery on PS5 consoles where you register your interest then pull out people at random

Reuben Barrett

Really enjoy these episodes

Brandon Soto

MysticRyan & Brian from PS5Trophies should be on the show.

BlindRiot

I assume they won’t come on because they are in fact, weak, wrong and stupid. No loss as far as I’m concerned.

Tony Rivera

Colin, just wanted to comment once again that I’m proud of you. Your demeanor, your discipline, your happiness truly comes through on the mic during this solo-cast. You sound so damn happy at the start of this show and all the way to the final “bye” - you sound like you’re in a great place. It comes through in your speech, and it makes me smile. Been on this journey with you for a while, and you’ve had some downs.. had some way downs, I remember them. But I’m proud of you, Blue. Here’s to you. Now and always. 🍻

FoxHopSmash

Taking a colder shower might help. I have the same problem. Or you can wait for your body to naturally cool off. But you do you man. It works for me.

Kevin Cooper

Not sure if that was an intentional I Heart Huckabees reference or not, but it was awesome nonetheless. #YouRockRock #TheRockJustSitsAndIs
