We're pretty hard on Star Wars here on KnockBack. But it's only because we care so damn much! Yet, we're rarely (if ever) asked to put up or shut up when it comes to the topic... until now. As voted on by our listeners, this episode is the first of three that will be dedicated to the new Star Wars trilogy, but through a simple lens: If given free reign, what would our new trilogy look like, one that takes place after the events of Return of the Jedi and includes as much or as little of established lore as possible? Well, today, we open our respective trilogies with our Episode VIIs. Dagan sets up a tale of familial redemption through haunting spectres of Darth Vader's past. Colin writes about an out-of-control corporation commanded by a religious prophet intent on showing the lies of the Force. They are very different stories from each other, and certainly different from canon. Naturally, we hope you enjoy both.

Woh, what a treat.

I’m a part of Patreon to support CLS monetarily. I use the iTunes app even though it’s delayed. I’m getting on this one right away though...so happy!!

I wouldn’t change episode 7, but I would change episode 9. Was terrible

🤯 Let's Do THIS!

Damn, you guys must be really excited about this because you wasted no time getting into the topic.!

Phil Walker

Wicked. Great topic guys. Now WATCH ATTACK OF THE CLONES!! YOU COWARDS!!

Just played my first game of Star Wars Rebellion with my wife last night. It's definitely "Star Wars in a box" and a blast to play. Got me thinking, I would love to see a playthrough between Colin and Dagan. Dagan as the Rebellion and Colin as the Empire would be hilarious. 😂

Fun episode. I might be alone in this, but while I enjoyed listening to you guys tell your stories, I have no idea what happened in either of your movies apart from the endings, lol. I don’t have the memory to be able to listen to the tellings of two different movies at the same time, cut chapter by chapter. But I understand you didn’t want to make each other wait an hour in between talking, hahaha. I look forward to the future of these retellings. I’ll try my best to keep up.

LastStandMedia

My vision was actually for us to go one, then the other. But Dagan wanted to do it this way, and I don't necessarily think he was wrong.

I love the idea that you guys are doing this. Is there any chance that you’ll do the prequels? I know that you stated in this episode that those movies stand as official canon. But all three could be infinitely improved with story tweets that make them better fit into the original trilogy. I make this request because, like Dagan, I had high expectations for the prequels that simmered for 16 years after the release of ROTJ. After seeing each film and being more and more disappointed, I’ve hoped for some sort of retcon.

Hey guys, I've seen this feedback mentioned but I truly believe that these re-writes would be easier to digest and allow each of you to really go in depth if you do them one after another instead of switching back and forth between the different sections. Thanks for this episode!

Brian Presley

I could see someone trying to put together a ‘directors cut’ where the episode is rearranged to have each story told straight through without the back and forth.

Your Boi Nicky V

Love it. Few things in life are a better listen than the Moriarty bros talking Star Wars.

Andrew Christensen

Favorite episode so far! Also, I love that Dagan decided to create special moves for each character, and give them an rpg alignment description 😂.

brody_low

It was a good episode but I think next time you should go one at a time. It was hard to follow the stories jumping back and forth

Reuben Barrett

Lol the second I heard giant corporation I was like yep definitely a Colin idea haha. Both these ideas are pretty brilliant though, especially the evangelical one. I can just imagine the force being butchered on some sunday morning telly

2022-01-23 21:50:25 Great episode. Colin- I’m sure you’ve been recommended the recent SW cartoons before... but they deal a lot with underworld & bounty hunter characters. The shows are worth digging into, and there’s lists of skippable episodes to avoid.

Fuckin great episode guys! You should do one re-writing the 4th Indiana Jones movie who's name I will not speak

Tyler Bello

I love this episode but why did you guys alternate? Made it harder to follow the story both of these were excellent I wish I would of been able to just sit back and visualize each one, one at a time.

One of my favorite episodes

Knock back becoming my favorite CLS show. Dagan is so great. Also - Colin your story was so interesting but it felt like (just like you ended up realizing) that you had 2 acts of 1 movie. Can’t wait for the next installments of this one!

LastStandMedia

Possibly one day! We are doing this because the fans voted for it, so let's work through this first, and then see. =)

Andrew

I think the corporation aspect of this writing breakdown was the best part. Good stuff Colin and D.

Sumojoe118

These were both great ideas, I love the mysteries you both built up and I'm excited to find out what happens next.

My favorite episode so far! love these kind of topics

Richard Darling

Probably the best podcast I've heard after all these years (defos Top 3) - can't WAIT to hear whats in store for the next two episodes!

Othtober

Looking forward to the next episodes! Both of these stories are amazing! One suggestion, on the next episode, do all of the story and set up of one movie and then tackle the other. Listening to both stories swapping back and forth was a bit harder to keep them straight in my head.

Brock Thomas Walsh

Dearest Super Moriarty bros, I hope all is well with you both. I am absolutely loving your guys take on re-writing the Sequels, but Colin....I can't believe you had the GALL to name a Star Wars character "Karen". This is just outright offensive. Is she (he?) by any chance related to the equally terribly named Kyle Kataarn? It is clear all those Karen Compilation's on youtube are having a negative effect on your mental health. Anyways, love the show and all the amazing content at Last Stand Media. Thanks as always and GOOD DAY SIRS

MikeLee

This topic was... interesting. I didn't like the idea at first and thought "This topic is just going to make you guys hate the new movies even more", but on the other hand, it's cool that you guys put your money where your mouths are, considering how much you both criticize the new films. My one critique is that it would've been more interesting to hear you both draft an original pitch to Lucasfilm as oppose to these rewrites, but maybe that's an idea for a future episode ( OwO )
