In 2016, IO Interactive sought to reinvent the Hitman series after 2012's less than stellar Hitman: Absolution. While it may have had a slow start with the misunderstood episodic nature of Hitman 2016, the series began to take on a new light thanks to the open-ended level design that was filled to the brim with emergent gameplay. IO built on that foundation two years later with Hitman 2, a critical success that slowly grew in popularity. Fast forward to the present and the final game in their "World of Assassination" reboot, Hitman 3, is a smash hit and touts the best digital launch in series history. It's clear why the game is so successful, as each level of the game is chock full of industry leading design and gameplay systems that keep you playing over and over.

With all that said, let's take a closer look at what we really love about the final entry in the Hitman trilogy, and maybe even try to come up with some assassination ideas of our own.

No mention of VR? Guys, if you haven't done so, do yourselves a favor and try it. It elevates the game even more. What an experience

Is it compatible with the PS5 version or do I need to install the PS4 version seperatly? If so I think I'll pass. Besides, I still haven't received my adapter from Sony.

Johannes

Yes, you will need to install the PS4 version to play in VR

Matty.... you're a psycho for that pizza comment. Thankfully Chris was there to put you in your place. Great episode otherwise tho :)

I love the vineyard as much as Dartmor. I would even go as far to say the vineyard was better.

Chris, I can confirm, with a certainty that is as serious as the plague, that you are not crazy and that Matty is a fucking psychopath for that pizza comment. Matty, we desperately—DESPERATELY—need to discuss, or at least hear about, your methodology for eating ‘za. Like, are you burying your fingernails into it? Are you slathering your hands in grease every time you consume a slice? Your hands should not smell like pizza any longer than after you eat it, and if they are you either need to see a doctor for some sort of endocrine gland condition which is causing you to get the finger-pizza-sweats (which is, bar none, the grossest phrase I have ever written), or a psychologist to determine why you’re smelling pizza way longer than you should. Either way, Chris is a beautiful angel of reason in this discussion and Matty is an abhorrent slavering pizza-demon. Dustin is a dirtbag centrist for refusing to really come down on one side. THAT IS ALL.

I really like what Hitman 3 did and the addition of being able to play all 3 levels in the same game is great!

In Hitman 3’s last level where you kill The Constant, they have a garrote, silverballer(?), and ax to eliminate him with. I thought was pretty cool.

This is the greatest five minute intro in podcast history.

My greatest accomplishment was sniper assassination, suit only on the ark society with no guide. I just realized this is hitman 2 For hitman 3, my favorite achievement is suit only, silent assassin, sniper assassin on the China level.
