Leon Kennedy: Raccoon City's Most Oblivious Cop (Resident Evil 2) -- CLS Let's Play

Turns out Resident Evil 2's Leon Kennedy is the least observant, most clueless police officer in the long and storied history of American justice. All footage was captured by CLS on a PS4 Pro (1080p60) using a copy of Resident Evil 2 provided by Capcom free-of-charge and before its release date. This is my top 3 favorite franchises for sure. Such a good game!

"He was just trying to get gas" :'D

What a great game. I found time to complete both pairs of campaigns and was thoroughly impressed. I'm slightly disappointed that the 2nd run for each character is a remixed version of their primary campaign and not the second half of the other character's primary campaign (which is how the original RE 2 did it), but that's really the only issue I had with the game. Capcom is certainly on the upswing.

Justin Marxer

Fucking hilarious let's play and totally valid regarding Leon's lucidity, but hey, at least he doesn't punch a boulder?

George

Leon's obliviousness is accentuated by the fact that he is supposed to be a cop, lol. Regardless, the game is great (if a little short). I wish more modern games were as economical with their levels as this game is. The amount of detail in game environments today is gratuitous. One room can represent hundreds of hours of artists' work, and it can be 'consumed' in a matter of seconds. I don't see how this can be sustainable, and I suspect it will only become less and less sustainable given the runaway pursuit for even more realistic graphics.

hugplx

Hahaha. You haven't played the original in a while, but if you had, Leon 2.0 would seem like a genius in comparison.

This was one of the funniest Let's Plays I saw in a long time. Everyone is always either too serious or they just scream too much. I love your pragmatic and realistic commentary. The electric box covered in tape was priceless. You need to make more Let's Plays Colin. Call it "The pragmatic let's play".

"Claire you may be burning alive but ARE YOU OKAY!?" LOL

LastStandMedia

Well put. I was (and still am, as I'm still playing it) really impressed with the level of detail everywhere. It's a really great game.

Craig Carter

You’re commentary always makes me laugh haha. I’ve been wondering the same about Leon the whole time I’ve been playing. Pretty even keel dude considering the zombie outbreak and Mr. X chasing you around to punch you into oblivion.

The Chicken Chaser

That commentary was top notch man! You think it’s a good entry point in the series? Last horror game I played was Dead Space 1

Nice video!

I'm not recalling much from my original playthrough either. Having a good time with it, though. I hope you're right about an eventual RE4 remake. One of my favorite games of all time.

This was a very funny let’s play. I am really enjoying the game so far only being a few hours into Leon’s campaign. I really like how Leon is oblivious to everything just how he was in the original. I wonder if they kept it a little campy on purpose as a throwback to the first couple games which I’m not sure if they were supposed to be campy in the first place but regardless I enjoy it. I really look forward to the friendly banter between you and creamsicle Chris about the game. P.s. I also liked and commented on the video via YouTube in hopes to somehow change the YouTube algorithm so your videos show up to more people. Best regards

Daniel Gonzalez

I finished Leon’s play through yesterday. A great game, terrifying most of the time, but like you showed us sometimes hilarious. I love the commentary Colin, keepin’ it real with the observations.

Love the Lets plays

hah you do a surprisingly comical lets play

Tony Rivera

I noticed Leon’s dubious mediocrity of awareness when I started the supplemental campaign with his character after playing through as Claire. By far, Claire’s performance was far more realistic than Leon’s.. and the hilarity continues as I keep playing with Leon in this “2nd Run” - but still the polish on this game is shocking. How the devs mix up the locations of items, offering different weapons, playing through Ada’s and Sherry’s interludes- it keeps each playthrough fresh. I’m seriously considering playing through this all four times. Not tired yet. Keep it real Colin, and can’t wait for the video podcasts and future Let’s Plays with Chris. Cheers!

LastStandMedia

RE2 itself isn't a bad entry point. I'm really partial to 7, too. The lore between the games is often shared (for instance, Leon is introduced in 2 and is most famous from 4), but gameplay wise, you wanna stay away from the PSone originals.

LastStandMedia

They gotta do RE4 justice like this. After seeing what they did with RE2, RE4 absolutely demands similar treatment.

LastStandMedia

It's definitely campy by design, as the series always has been. But it's still funny. =) (Thank you for supporting the video on YouTube. I appreciate it.)

LastStandMedia

I haven't gotten a chance to play since this past weekend, but am looking forward to playing tonight when I get the chance. Also: "Dubious mediocrity." Well put. =D

Tony Rivera

I have a penchant for vocabulary when speaking to the esteemed and honorable Colin Moriarty. Lol

John Fazio

I hope my comment didn’t come off flippant. Love the content! :)

The Chicken Chaser

Gotcha, I bought 7 over a year ago with the intention to play it on PS VR but man that’s a big hassle hooking that thing back up

Michael Akridge

Laughed hard. Please do one for the intro of KH3. Played the start and just had your voice in the back of my mind like “how many times are they going to show the title of this game?” Literally has like seven opening sequences

Lee Byron

Would love a Knockback on the Resident Evil series!

😂😂😂 Don't ever let anyone take your sense of humor and sarcasm. Your let's play is hilarious. Keep them coming video games are suppose to be for entertainment!
