Hey All!

You guys liked last month's Patreon-exclusive episode of Sacred Symbols so much, that I decided to immediately do a sequel. =)

Presenting Long Lost Letters II, a set of asked-and-answered questions from CLS Patrons that were solicited for Episodes 19, 20, 21, and 22 of Sacred Symbols, but weren't (initially) used.

Thank you for your support! I appreciate each and every one of you. -Colin

Man, as a Patron I have to say this is worth every single cent I spend each month and more. You guys each do such great work and it’s nice to have so much to look forward to each week. I’m happy to support people like you

Cannonball_Jones

I just clocked into work and thought I was out of CLS to listen to. Perfect timing.

Colin you hit the nail on the head with one of your THQ Nordic hypothesis on their plan. They are planning low AAA tier and AA tier success. The CEO is on record saying for them to turn a profit for Darksiders 3 they dont need a million copies, they need more around the 150k mark. They are releasing games with expectations at a Double A level along with their sales goals being at a Double A level. Death by 1000 cuts. The real interesting thing to me is are we going to get an hidden gems on the double A level like we did in the PS2 era.

Brett Medlock

Love these. Thanks, Colin!

I feel like you’re spoiling me with all this content. Best Patreon value I’ve ever seen.

Colin, If you're looking at a 4k TV just get a 65" LG OLED TV. You can get one for around 2k and they are worth every penny. The panel for the LGs is identical across their lineup, the only difference is with things like integrated speakers, form factor, and things like Dolby Atmos support.

Robert Graham

^^^I agree with Alex. You’ve got to do LG OLED. They are mad good and will hold up against other TVs for a long time. Ps: really love the solo podcast style content.

John Lynch

Love these episodes. I do take issue with the question about EA remasters. People keep bringing up dead space and that’s literally the only remaster I want to play. I don’t even care if it’s remastered. I’d literally take a dead space trilogy released on PS4 with no extras. I’d pay 60 dollars for it

great surprise to pop in for! Thanks Colin!

Maybe it’s just me, but it really felt like you were speaking in hyper speed at moments. Maybe it’s just me I don’t know lol I had to check my podcast speed thing to make sure it’s at 1X

There is a talk about new move controllers - I'm only interested because of it's use in Dreams but if Sony will pursue VR dominance (no reason why they shouldn't) it seems like a no brained to have a refreshed headset and new controllers

four24twenty

The Drop is very special this week. Can't wait to hear you guys read through it!

Regarding the YouTube thing. Have you ever thought about taking Side Quests into another direction? I remember you stating that you thought about making your content strictly podcast format. something I think would be cool is making Side Quest a game “book club”. Like going back and replaying a game and talk about it each episode in depth with your Patreon supporters. That way you can keep it podcast only and not have to worry about the YouTube BS.

Tyler Berg

I agree that it’s hard to beat an LG OLED at this point. If you don’t want to spend 2000 but want something that will hold up for quite some time, the lower number QLED tvs from samsung are great such as the Q6fn / Q7fn. Rtings.com is a great place to learn about and compare different models. Best of luck!

Tyson Williams

Maybe for a PS All Stars sequel give it a single player beat-em-up focus and make that the primary selling point. You could make a lighthearted and fun story with all the characters interacting. Of course you could include an optional co-op and a fun competitive party mode.

Tyler

I think if they make a sequel to PS All-Stars they should just commit and straight up rip off of super smash bros.

Please keep doing these lost letters! Makes for a perfect commute to work ❤️

I'm going to echo the LG TV OLED sentiment. I have the 55 inch B6. About two years old from manufacture date. One of the best purchases I've ever made. There are some decent black Friday deals as well. Now that I have one, I'll never go back. I'd recommend it if you can afford it Colin. It is an investment, but a worthwhile one imo. The picture is second to none. One of my family members got the 2018 55 inch B8 for 1500 last week and was blown away. I haven't seen the 65 inch for less than 2300ish the past two weeks, but the comments above me might have found some better deals. My next TV in 2-3 years will again be an LG OLED, but 65 inches instead of 55. I'm no TV expert, but could give you some more in depth info about my TV and owning and OLED if you'd like Colin. I went down the rabbit hole before buying it. Just let me know. 👍

As s a new 4k tv owner, I cant recommend it enough. The gaming utilization is honestly minute, however as a Netflix user there is a great amount of 4k usage on alternate media than gaming. But I can foresee the 4k being much better utilized on ps5, and the fact that it is literally double resolution (of 1080) in 4k. You WILL see the difference next gen. But this gen... there are so many great 4k use in video specifically as well as proper use of HDR on current gen! Much love!

Ryan Harvey

I have a sony 55" braviax900e it is especially nice in latency, without worry of burn in on the screen that comes with OLED as much as I love it!

Michal Dudic

One format that came to me that Totalbiscuit (RIP) pioneered and it worked really well for him was "I am now going to talk about [blank] for x minutes", which is just off the cuff editorial over pre-recorded gameplay as b-roll. Dunno if that's something Colin would be interested in, but I feel like he would be good at it. That's still youtube but at least probably easier to produce.

Tyler

That’s also a good idea. I’m just thinking of what Colin is really good at and 2 things come to mind. His interaction with his fans and his knowledge (whether you agree or disagree). The name Side Quest can imply that it is gaming related but it is something that isn’t necessarily current or relevant to what is happening now. I remember Colin saying he finished up Bioshock Infinite, having him go in details with his thoughts on the game as he progressed sounds great.

I have the same TV and I agree. I have never regretted the purchase.

Ryan Gorris

Ea needs to put Skate 1-3 on a disc and rerelease that. Easy money

John Ceccarelli

Colin, OLED is the way to go for a 4k tv. They are the truth, and fully worth the cost.

LastStandMedia

I'm not entirely convinced there's a market there for a company of their size to thrive anymore. But we will certainly find out.

LastStandMedia

I hate to be redundant with some other messages I've sent, but I'm super wary about LG. Haven't had good experiences with that brand. =\

LastStandMedia

You're very welcome! Remember: Exclusive podcast goes live on Patreon the last Friday of each month!

LastStandMedia

That would be fun. It's KINDA like what Dagan and I do on KnockBack, though, right? It's something to marinate on. Selfishly, I like doing Side Quest, and I'd like to keep doing them, though they won't be every week. I just hate having to rely on such a shitty service like YouTube to proliferate my content.

LastStandMedia

I don't mind the price -- you usually get what you pay for -- but I do mind the brand (as I said to a poster above, as well). LG and I don't mix well.

LastStandMedia

That could be fun, though I think I'm with Tyler: They should just do a straight ripoff next time. LOL.

LastStandMedia

Everyone seems keen on this LG 4K TV, even though I've had some bad experiences with the brand. Maybe it was just happenstance...

LastStandMedia

Yeah, I assume I'll have made the jump long before PS5 arrives. I'd make the jump now, but I don't know if I'm moving in the spring, and I'd hate to have another thing to lug around. Much to consider!

Ryan Gorris

Its crazy. People have been yelling for a new Skate for years and they just wont listen. Makes no sense

BettyAnn Moriarty

I love that you went back to old letters. Awesome. 😉💕

BettyAnn Moriarty

And, I can’t wait for you to get here! . I’m so very excited! Further - Chicken cutlets it shall be. And gravy, and pork chops! ❤️😉😘
