What Happened at Dunkirk? -- Colin's Last Stand (Episode 30)

Christopher Nolan's "Dunkirk" tells the harrowing story of perhaps the most daring military escape in human history. With the Nazis blitzing France in 1940, hundreds of thousands of (mostly) British soldiers found themselves trapped. Due to infinite amounts of bravery and gusto, 338,226 of them lived to tell the tale, later finding themselves at the forefront of the force that brought Hitler to his knees. Nice one Colin, great description of the event. Some of your words about had me in tears. As a proud Brit, it was my Grandad's generation and his peers rescuing and being rescued in that situation. Thank you Mr. Moriarty ✌

Best episode yet, great job Colin!

Brent Lindquist

I've been looking forward to this video for a while, and it didn't disappoint. I already have my ticket for the movie Thursday night, and this was a wonderful primer for it. Joe Wright's "Atonement" also features a pretty astonishing long-take portrayal of the beach at Dunkirk during the siege.

Misty

One of my favorites to date. I honestly hadn't heard of this event or movie.

Nice video, off topic as extra info i just want to mention that Operation Dynamo was followed by several other rescue operations (Operation Cycle, Operation Ariel, ...)

Audio sounds so much better! Great episode!

Christopher Lee

Great episode! I think this is my favorite way for you to cover any current day political or pop culture issue by doing a deep dive into historical background. This movie wasn't even on my radar and now it's a must watch! Glad you'll continue to play around with the mic/camera setup, other than that the content and sound quality were excellent! Cheers!

Austin Tex Perez

Fascinating story. I can't wait to see Dunkirk this weekend! Pretty cool video Colin.

Probably my fave CLS video to date, a truly great story broken down really well with important context. Would love to see you delve more into the WW2 era, perhaps on the Soviet side in the future as well. Also pretty obvious but the audio improvement is great, thanks Colin.

These are my favorite videos you do. Keep it up.

John Quinn

Great video again Colin. I really noticed the audio improvement.

George Newton

Your history vids are my fave, always so insightful. As a brit I super appreciate this , thank you

Stephen J Seidler

Thanks for reminding me why I enjoy history. Even the smallest amount of context informs one's knowledge about the world almost exponentially.

Owen

As much as I love the political videos, your historical videos knock it out of the fuckin park man.

I have a real passion for World War II, so it's almost guaranteed that I'll be back to it, and often.

History is the best. It's truly unfortunate that not more people enjoy it like we do. =\
