The Game Pass Aftermath | Defining Duke, Episode 185

A rather peaceful July continues on as we dig through the aftermath of Xbox's major changes to Game Pass. For starters, we now have clarity on the wait for Day 1 games in the service at the standard tier and those who remain will be seemingly waiting a long time for their shiny games to arrive. Furthermore, Xbox is potentially pulling out of regions like Europe, Africa, and the Middle East when it comes to their consoles. With all these parts of the business shifting in real time, many are trying to predict where Xbox will be at the end of all these changes. Well, much of it hinges on Call Of Duty which is tying its beta to Game Pass subscribers. Indeed, it's a different Xbox we're looking at in 2024! Does this new Xbox consider Crash 5 important enough to resurrect? How cutthroat shall they be with 343 in their next Halo? There is quite a bit to discuss, so enough briefing and let's get to chatting! So Cog when flying in a plane, would you rather have your life, along with everyone else's, in the hands of a person who earned their position to maintain or fly said plane or someone hired based upon their ethnicity? I can understand feeling passed over because of being considered overqualified and maybe you had been looked over due to race. However, you said you saw yourself as moving up. Why do you go to race before you consider they do not want to change their current leadership? Maybe they've had people that left with similar qualifications and they're looking for someone to stick around. Maybe they thought someone with zero experience in the industry wanting to be in a high position so quickly made them think you might be unrealistic or only there because you like games. Maybe others were more highly qualified. I don't know I just feel like pulling the race card right off the bat is overly assumptive without evidence at best. Of course who you know matters, it has always been that way and has nothing to do with diversity. It's more nepotism than anything. We have to move beyond this racism and prejudice and that requires people letting go of a past that no longer exists. I'm all for calling out racism from anyone, but its gone well beyond that into people saying others are racist if they don't publicly support certain people or organizations, and that some people can't be racist, wait for it... because of their race lol I mean how insanely oxymoronic? And for those being falsely accused, you think that makes them any more amenable towards the group that wrongfully call them racists? We've reached Idiocracy levels of ridiculousness and the death of DEI is a sign society is finally over all this nonsense. Yes, at least 90% of the reason a person is hired should be based upon merit and ability. I do not care if the guy working somewhere is Native like me, I just want things to work right and to get what I pay for. I don't care if the cook or server at a Mexican restaurant is German, I just care if the food and service is good. Racism begets racism, no matter the intentions behind it.
