Greetings everyone,

This week it'll be just me and Gene. It's going to be intimate.

Games on the list this week include:
Brad - Hellblade 2, Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door
Gene - Elden Ring

With the Rumored PlayStation showcase coming up I thought it would be fun to share some predictions and to speculate. I'd like for you all to share your hopes, expectations, and dream announcements as well.

Taking Sort it Out, Keep it Up, general thoughts and questions as well as fun warm-ups as always.

Cutoff will be Sunday, May 26 at 6 PM PST for submissions.

Thank you!

Hey Brad. It's your resident Hellblade hater here, I wrote in a couple weeks ago regarding Hellblade 1. Well, I actually kinda liked Hellblade 2. Is it a good game? Not really. But the combat is less frequent, cinematic and streamlined. The puzzles are reduced, and in general the game just keeps moving forwards. I have to say the technical achievements go well beyond just being a 'graphics snob'. It's a revolution, and a window into where real Time graphics will go. I also enjoyed the story. A small fable about a leader who created monsters in order to control the people and protect his own power. Not to far removed from the reality of modern politics. Is the game worth 50 bucks? Was it worth such a long development time? And is this the type of game Xbox 1st party needs? Sadly I think the answer to these questions is no. But removed from this context I enjoyed the experience for what it was. Cheers, Phil

Keep it up Fighting games! The awesome dlc new characters, the balance updates, and the FGC media content. Fighting games are eating good in 2024. (And Gene, what do you think of Beatrix, the new Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising character? Beatrix, 2B, or Eve?)
