You know. I'm a black dude who liked the "white" people stuff and I relate to this.. I was poor, and even lived a criminal background like everyone I knew,(ironically more successful then the people I knew) from the south and people are so integrated so this is common. But tbh, I'm just getting over it and stuff like this helps. Regardless of their different culture, they both truly want to belong in a culture outside of their own. Wasn't this the ideal? And if you do stay in the boundaries, your considered a fake and a fraud. Its really sad and confusing. You complain about white people not understanding, but when they begin to identify and mesh withing the community, they're are treated as frauds. Even when some white people are born within the community or not, they're place is doubted from both sides regardless of how genuine their feelings or experiences are. People who claim to be the most progressive voices are commonly the most exclusive. They talk incusivity, but in reality they also just want you to abide by thier standards. If this is what they are leave them alone and respect their autonomy. Please.

I feel like so many people are just really reductive when it comes to analyzing people who are different from them. In this interview everyone, at times, is put in that vulnerable position, and rather than go into fight or flight mode they open up. as expected, this video does a fantastic job of humanizing Chet & the twins. The way chet describes the binary identity paradigm in the beginning is spot-on, and sets the tone for the entire exchange. For those who watch this and laugh at them as though they're on display at the zoo -- you're missing the point. The deeper messages include the fact that we're all imperfect, race/identity in this day and age is complex, our country is rife with inequalities, and so on and so forth -- but despite that, people like all these gentlemen are courageous and make an effort to find common ground. Everything about this is respectable. Channel 5, you should be proud.

Man watching this you can really see the difference in mentality between the twins and Chet. Chet is way more grounded and can see the absurdity with the potential for backlash while the twins are just living the moment.
