Here's a scenario for ya:

The listener is a vampire hunter, and corners and beats the vampire (speaking character) they've been hunting in a fight. The vampire begs for mercy, and ends up turning the tables by catching the hunter off guard and hypnotizing them. They feed on the listener, but afterwards take them someplace safe. The vampire explains and then leaves.
